The sort of people Progressives are

The conversation in the "Should Billionaires Exist" thread got me thinking about the people in my life who support far left Progressive (quasi-Marxist) policies and the sort of people they are.

Living where I do there is no shortage of Sanders/Warren/AOC and now Mandani supporters among my friends and family. While this is still anecdotal, with full confidence I can make two generalizations about these people:

1. Most are among the nicest, kindest people I know.​

2. Not one of them has a clue how a market economy works, how wealth is created, what it takes to run a successful business, and they show no desire to understand any of it.​

This almost willful ignorance of economic reality leaves them vulnerable to being spun by collectivist jargon.

While their cluelessness can be frustrating, I will not give up on them, for their own sake as well as mine.

I mostly agree about progressives: big hearts, good intentions, but often naive, impractical, and overly idealistic.

I still vastly prefer them to the conservatives I know, who are fundamentally lacking in empathy and often display bitterness and outright hate towards the weak rather than the powerful. The past decade they have defended increasing unethical behavior from their leaders. And more and more, they seem to be just as clueless on how to achieve sustainable economic growth as progressives.

And they are every bit as arrogant and condescending.

I think that's a fair assessment, with particular notice of not being viewed as 'bad people with ideas'.

You're getting your ass handed to you in the other thread so you had to start a new one to complain about the "mentality" of folks you can't out argue.

And I'd like a survey of these people as to what they think of you and your take on how wealth is created.
