It's not that complicated. I'm using Hollywood broadly, because much of this work isn't even done in the US anymore.

Anyways, pretty much every aspect of the creative industry involves people who come from diverse, open-minded backgrounds. It's a key component of being an artist, generally. As such, you need to have a highly tolerant, open-minded, accepting view of the world to thrive in that community. People who don't, or can't, or won't adjust to the open-mindedness of the creative arts generally don't receive much work in the industry. People just don't want to work with those kinds of people. It also costs money when you have difficult personalities involved, so it's also a function of capitalism. A bad personality can utterly devastate production.

Many actors, directors, writers, etc., just can't cut it in the open-minded atmosphere. Hence you have people who get spit out the ass-end of the industry, and having been rejected, many become MAGA simps. Rejection / Humiliation really is a key component of being a right-winger, as I detailed in another thread.

That doesn't mean there isn't a ton of problems with the industry. It just means that right-wingers have a great deal of time finding success. So they end up doing stuff like creating the Daily Wire.
 
Great movies, like all art, explore the ambiguities of the world and the complexities of the human condition.

Right-wingers tend to see things in black and white.

Open-mindedness, like tolerance, is a social expectation more than a behavior. People give things like open-mindedness, respect, and tolerance with the expectation that they will receive them in return. If someone gives open-mindedness and receives closed-mindedness, then that kindness has not been repaid.

Some professions are not suitable for right-wingers due to the environment of the industry. Seems like a pretty easy concept to absorb. Socialists wouldn't do well on the Wall Street trading business. Right-wingers wouldn't do well in an environment where open-mindedness is a key component.
 
Hollywood is a joke. Only those who protest so much about sexism star in movies like 9 to 5. Happy to take on the Harvey couch to get an Oscar and then when rich cry abuse. Violence, sex, drugs, etc. all glorified by the Hollywood actors and then complain. Hypocrites galore!!!!!!!!
 

Stew Peters is a perfect example of this. He went to Hollywood, didn't make it, got rejected. Then he realized he could get notoriety and success pushing right wing conspiracy theories. When the pandemic hit he capitalized on right wing fears by creating a highly conspiracy theorist embellished film called 'Died Suddenly.' Later he hooked up with Nick Fuentes and spoke at one of those stupid hate-a-thon right wing extremist events for those who are just too extremist for CPAC.

I guess it was either that or porn and perhaps he didn't have the needed attribute.
 

Wasn't Weinstein kicked out of the industry? Trump hasn't been kicked out right-wing circles.

As I said, the industry isn't perfect by a county mile. But it looks like there is at least some accountability when figures are revealed to be dirtbags.

I've often wondered, where are all the right wing artists, poets, actors, and musicians? Sure, there are some. But not many. I think there's some truth to the claim that you have to be open minded and tolerant to thrive in a creative industry.

It's simple.

Step 1. You lied in order to troll, which is all you do here. Hollywood is generally open-minded, aka, tolerant.

Step 2. Those who are open-minded aka tolerant are generally not stupid enough to be won over by the bigot's claim that "you have to tolerate intolerance to be tolerant." No, you don't. Accept that, intolerance proliferates, and you defeat your own purpose of tolerance.

Some right-wingers can exist in the industry, as long as they keep a lid on some of their right-wing shit. It's really all about how you interact with the community, I think.

And Hollywood has changed since the 1960s, when people like John Wayne were common.

Being in the public eye where your reputation isn't kept under wraps by corporate studios is a big factor. It's very easy to reveal who you are to the public. You develop a reputation, then you're no longer a viable vehicle to get Box Office sales. Thus, Capitalism is also at play.
 
I see. So the left not only views themselves as morally and intellectually superior to everyone else, you are now the only ones with an open mind. Perhaps an example would help. Give me an example of a virtuous and openminded movie from the virtuous and open minded Hollywood left and an evil, closed-minded Hollywoood movie from the evil and closed-minded Hollywood right.
 
The definition used earlier was "highly tolerant, open-minded, accepting view of the world" - whereas you want to define it as a social expectation that demands reciprocity.

Your definition certainly fits better with how Hollywood works, but is not what I would think of as "open minded."

I've found Korean movies/series to be more entertaining the last few years, though some old movies from the 40's and 50's are worth watching again. Mister 880, a 1950 movie with Burt Lancaster was the last movie I watched.
 

I didn't say anything about movie results, although we could go there if really wanted. Often movies will depict the qualities of the right-wing in a way that is designed to expose them and draw moral lessons about how not to behave, and then right-wingers will embrace these figures designed to expose their qualities. Like Gordan Gecko or Patrick Bateman.

Movies seldom depict the qualities of the right-wing in a positive light.

Hollywood just wants to make money. Conservatives can't make money with Hollywood outside of reality Florida porn because they're not creative. There's a reason the best you can do is Scott Baio and Lucy Lawless.
