Moral panics almost always accompany freakouts about the need to "protect the children." From what, exactly? Physical safety, it seems.

The current moral panic by ultraconservatives is against trans women in athletics. Like most moral panics, they distract from actual, serious problems.

As scandal after scandal emerges about the pervasive abuse of young athletes, it’s time we reevaluate our priorities. Trans athletes aren’t the problem.

Of course, some will read this and dismiss it. Maybe they are under the delusion that predators in sports "aren't so bad"?
 
Considering the history of sexual predation in the world, it's a wonder why castration isn't a more prevalent punishment.

Not only is forced castration cruel and unusual punishment, it doesn't work. Sexual assault is a tool of power, not sex, and it doesn't require the predator's genitals to commit.

Pretty hard to make the case that it's not about sex to the victims. I suspect if they were asked, those who were sexually assaulted would say it was certainly about sex. If not, then it wouldn't qualify as sexual assault. Coaches of gymnasts are very demanding. They already have all the power they need.

Be that as it may, I'll bet that castration would be a deterrent. And I'd be genuinely surprised if, as you assert, "it doesn't work".
Have you any data showing that those who've been castrated continue to commit sexual assault?

or maybe its the ignorance of the girls parents. if the girls were taught more self-esteem and body rights they would have the guts to stand up to these coaches earlier

Heck, there's at least one poster on this site that thinks transwomen (i.e. a male) should be able to box against 'cis' women.

What the hell??

They are both threats in very different ways. How is allowing transwomen to compete in women' sports not a threat to their livelihood, success, and in some cases health? Predatory coaches are a sexual threat to both female and male athletes.

I don't know how you can't see that both are threats in different ways. I don't even know why you are bringing up 2 completely separate issues in one thread.
