The Reach of the Spirit of The Lord

This is pure trivia but I can’t resist it. As you might know I have talked about the timeline of the Bible being 6,000 years since Adam. I was given a bottle of Georgian wine today knowing they have evidence of wine first being made in Georgia……it is dated 8,000 years ago. More surprising was that it is believed that beer was made in Israel, of all places, 13,000 years ago. Bible believers are challenged to take the creation story literally…... I believed the same thing when I was 6 years old…..unfortunately for some knowledge continues to increase. Christians desperately need to reframe their understanding…..especially if the Bible is to be taught in public schools……
 
At some point fundamental Christians will be in a position of having to deny all knowledge. If you deny something as obvious as this other people will assume that this position carries over into all realms of knowledge……the secret is out…..

You say that the Bible cannot be trusted. So what is your so-called faith in God based upon? Please explain your 'theology'.

First of all one must understand that ‘theology’ is simply the study of a myth. In any other field of study new understandings emerge and expand the parameters of their area of study. So I would ask you what the greatest discovery has made in the last 50 years ? My faith is built on the experience of Spirit/God……church has been helpful the most as a motivational tool to go beyond the limited understanding of existent denominations. Belief is totally personal….it is not collective…..at least until now. Currently churches are either evolving into havens for MAGA adherents or more rational people.

Now you can explain why you believe in something(the Bible) that is demonstrably not factual but begins as a myth that only begins thousands and thousands of years after the first existence of mankind……..did your church make you confess that you believe everything they tell you to believe ?
 

No, theology is the study of God. You show your atheism is your faith, in calling theology a 'myth'. So, why are you here when you don't believe in God?

No, you haven't answered my questions. Where does your church, as you have said, get the idea that Christ should be confessed as Saviour? You already indicated the Bible cannot be trusted.

And, you have not explained what your so-called faith in God is based upon. What experience of Spirit/God? Who is this Spirit/God? How did you learn of him? What does he teach you? How does he teach you? Is this Spirit/God of yours a myth?

Please excuse my interruption here, Lees, but you should/could loosen up a bit. You seem way too hardcore in your beliefs and that sure isn't the Teachings of the Faith. You come across like a 16th Century Catholic priest that will burn you at the stake if the answers to your questions don't please your ears.

I had actually decided to depart from this discussion because of your style, but here I see you are now pounding some other human with your 16th Century style and it is sad for the Church. That is, it is sad for ALL of the Faith. It is a stain upon the Faithful. Chill out, eh.

You are fixated on an untenable position….it is like believing that Superman is faster than a speeding bullet…..it is up to you to refute any credible proof that man existed before Adam……just admit that there is a truth in a myth that cannot be believed as literal truth….
 

All you are doing is attacking the Christian faith based upon your atheism, not on any foundation based upon belief in God. My understanding of this forum, is that it is not for that. You're not fooling anyone.

I will argue with you all day long concerning your requirement of me to prove it to you. But not here.

If I misunderstood the rules of this Theology forum, maybe a moderator can explain them to me.

That seemed to indicate you are on your own path and have no wish to even look over to either side and see what other paths there might be.

You see, in my two significant posts I was "reaching" much further than "the reach of the Lord's Spirit".

Then you seemed to want to simply ignore any depth of thought into what John 4:24 might be able to teach us:

Then I see some of your other writings here and I get bad vibes. Which is fine by me, as I can simply go elsewhere to discuss such like I thought I might discuss here. You do not seem to wish to be any significant influence upon any thoughts I may wish to explore, so fine.

But I thought maybe I would make mention of what seems like a very hardcore attitude you have about The Faith. Your "reach" doesn't seem to be extending too far out, is what I am reading here so far.
 

I explained my position based upon the Scripture concerning what you call the 'reach of the Lord's Spirit'. Post #(3).

Well, based upon the Bible, you cannot reach further than the Lord's Spirit. See (Psalm 139).

I have never and will never identify as an atheist. I am spiritual and you are religious…..you believe in a book and what others tell you to believe……I believe in the Spirit and thus the God within. God is Spirit and man was created in His image…..thus we are spirit. It is up to each individual to discover the God within. As long as one looks elsewhere he will never experience his most essential identity. Physical identity can be established by DNA…..thus those believing in the creation story could trace their lineage to Adam and all people on earth could…..realizing their physical brotherhood to all racial groups ? The more interesting thing to contemplate would be to wonder if Spirit has DNA…….And to response to your quote that I cited I would say that you are greatly limiting your faith due to literalism….it is the speck in your eye……

It will be a glorious day for fundamental Christians when they will be able to end the teachings of anthropology and archaeology from schools and universities…..whose studies would contradict the creation story of the Bible…..certainly something for Trump to consider….he could eliminate with one beautiful stroke of his pen…..at least in the United States…..
 
Who cares? I've never relied on any school system to teach my children about something so intimate/personal...as parents we will continue to teach our children about our God...

Yes….indoctrination is easier with a captive audience….assuming you teach doctrine….

OK, you don't believe the Bible. Again, where did your church learn to confess Jesus Christ as Saviour? Why won't you answer? You now say God is Spirit and man is made in his image, Where did you learn that? Prove that through science and archeology. If you can't then why do you ask the Christian to have to prove his?

Again, I don't believe you. You are atheist and trying to create some pseudo spirituality just to be able to bash Christianity.

You say it's up to every individual to discover God 'within'. How do you know God is 'within'? Is He not without? In other words you just believe in man, not God.

And, if it's up to every individual, why do you find fault with the Christian who believes the Bible and all that it says about God and Christ? See, you are full of lies. You misrepresent yourself and the Christian faith because you are atheist.

What planet are you on? More than 70% of all violent deaths in history have been either about god or "for" god.

God is an asshole if faith in him leads to war. He has led his sheep badly.

So blame everything in a fictitious invention, a myth and keep on ruining other's lives because of stupid superstition

God's losing it. He needs to step up to the plate. We haven't had a world war in over half a century. He's falling behind in his cruelty and punishment of "original sin" that invention to keep weak people in power

Yes, I have run into that trouble a lot around this Community. I actually read some post/thread around here that claimed the Earth is round. Hard to believe the fiction some folks around here write, isn't it?

By the way, I sure wouldn't be able to handle that "your" descriptive - - - The Lord is not mine. I can assure you I wouldn't be able to handle that responsibility.

But it is flattering that you might have thought I could.

I feel sorry for you……especially when you have the resource of the Bible and understand so little of the Spirit. Spirituality seems hard for you to accept because it is not given in black and white and written on paper. I will give you a couple of verses to introduce you to the concept of the Spirit and are true revelations.

First in regards to your skepticism of God within: 1 Corinthians 6:19….”Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, WHO IS IN YOU, whom you have received from God ?”

Now for the danger of questioning spirituality: Matthew 12:31-32…..”And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.”

You are on very dangerous ground…..I would suggest repentance…..
 
Addendum: Now for anyone who believes that I have committed an unforgivable sin by not believing that Adam was not the first man on earth feel free to ‘caste the first stone’……..
