Americans are likely to face higher prices on everything from gasoline to groceries well into next year — threatening to turn a simmering economic issue into a major political one.
Higher inflation is reasonably likely through at least next year," said Jason Furman, a top economic adviser to former President Barack Obama who is close to the Biden administration. “And once you’ve had two years in a row of higher inflation, it may take on some momentum of its own.”

That prospect has heightened concern among Democrats about the potential political fallout......

th worst of the Biden screw ups -compounded by their tone deaf "transitory" dismissal

What is he supposed to do?

They spent to protect the worker, there's going to be inflation.

Most of the inflation is from the pandemic dip, the inflation trajectory hasn't changed.

How to keep this in the voter's minds?

"They spent to protect the worker, there's going to be inflation." -then why did they say it was just transitory?
And there is spending like the Paycheck Protection and there is !Spending! like 3.5 trillion on "human infrastructure"

they are tone deaf, and headed down the same path to increase inflation - are they just stupid or willfully dont give a damn?

I have no idea who is on their council of economic advisors, or if this administration just ignores them and charges forward with pious "free stuff" pabulum . And its not like THEIR OWN, Obama's chair of his economic advisors hasn't warned them again in July:

There is a new fear circulating inside the West Wing of the White House: Maybe Larry Summers was right.

The former Treasury secretary has been warning since February that President Joe Biden’s big-spending agenda was creating the risk of an inflation spike this year, potentially cutting into the economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

And:

Summers has vexed the White House and infuriated Democrats with his repeated alarms about Biden’s plans to spend trillions of dollars more in federal money, though he favors more investment in projects that boost long-term productivity like physical infrastructure.

He has been among the loudest voices in Democratic circles in cautioning about the risk of a prolonged spike in prices. The White House has mostly dismissed his concerns, saying prices will ease later this year...

For his part, Summers now says he's more concerned than he was when he first issued his warnings.

Well this is "later this year and NOW none say they will ease by year end.

The only faucet that really matters is the 2017 tax cut and for that we need 2022.

The deficit matters too.

Not to worry... it's just a transitory malaise.

My bet is the Puppeteer is Susan Rice leading the Domestic Policy Council thru Ron Klain.

(I personally despise Rice and Hillary for their dual roles in the takedown and assassination of Mu'ammar Al-Qadhdhāfī.
We/NATO were/are culpable of destroying Libya's high standard of living while plunging the country into a decade long civil war)
Still warring to this day

the (DPC) a position of significant importance and stature in any White House. And given Ambassador Rice’s bona-fides, her selection to this posting may tip the upcoming Biden administration’s hand a bit on where it intends to spend much of its limited time, at least out of the gates.

When you give away money, raise taxes, implement policies that cause businesses to shut their doors, continue to fan the flames of division, give in to our enemies, let crime run wild and have no border policy, how could you expect anything any different.

Agreed. The Obama / Biden / Clinton leadership at the time should have had the wisdom to leave that one alone. Hell the Europeans were either pushing or were dragged into that, and should also have had the greater wisdom to leave it alone.

But hardly a surprise that Biden was involved in it.
“I thought Joe Biden had been wrong on almost every major foreign policy issue over the preceding 40 years.”
Former Obama Defense Secretary and CIA chief Robert Gates

Bidenomics are a failure.

The biggest thing that Biden doesn't see coming is how his party is going to turn against him. Let's be honest, the vast majority of Democratic elite leaders are no fans of old straight white guys. The desperately want Kamala as president because of the historical significance..They know there is no way she can win in 3 years so they will use the 25th Amendment against Joe. Either that or they will convince him in private meetings that he should resign for "health reasons". He's a team player so he might. That would avoid an ugly transition. Besides he got what he wanted.....a place in the history books that can never be taken away, He was POTUS. .

Republicans need to get on this big time.
Before the midterms I would flood the airwaves with a brief explanation of why inflation is a tax.
Keep it simple so liberals can understand and you might get converts.
The least you will do is justifiably anger moderates and independents. Republicans will need them to be able to break the back of this nightmare.

Yes, the Republicans will hammer the Democrats over inflation. According to the article, very little can be done by the administration, but they are focusing on what they can do. Cutting red tape for CDL's is a good move.

Something else mentioned is that inflation is a problem if it occurs without growth. GDP grew by 6.3% and 6.7% in Q1 and Q2. Third quarter results won't reach those levels, but should still be strong; 3 to 4%.

If growth remains strong, it will temper people's disgust with inflation. But I agree inflation is a concern, and Democrats will be blamed at the ballot box.

Inflation is a problem because it outpaces wage growth. and really hurt those on fixed incomes -the most vulnerable of our society
The administration could lower the age for interstate truckers ( from the current 21 to 18) with emergency powers.
It could stop trying to add in more spending and higher taxes to get real wealth growth and not just GDP on paper

Don't forget tax increases. Democrats like those, a lot.

Inflation will become the number 1 economic concern, but crime will be a close second. Even as I write the daily news is one of urban disintegration in major "Blue" cities, a fate deserved for the majority Democratic voters who are made to live the consequences of their irrational self-flagellation, anti-capitalism, and obsession with threats from the right that don't exist. (I do feel sorry for people, like my mother, who have to live with these lunatics in Portland)....

Speaking of Portland, it's now, for all practical purposes, considered a lawless city...crippled by rules that don't allow common, non-lethal self defense like pepper spray for Police. How insane is that?

Then there is Seattle, at a "Stage 3 Emergency" due to 250 police exiting his "progressive utopia".

New folk song needed for the NW left: "Where has the sanity gone, when will they ever learn?"

PS; should have also mentioned Chicago whose City Hall can't find anyone wanting to be a cop:

protect workers MY ASS. inflation like this DOES NOT protect workers. I make decent money and was in a good place, but If I really want to keep up with inflation now I am going to have to change jobs and all the risk and uncertainty that carries with it. you know they don't give raises to outpace inflation if you stay put. not to mention my retirement savings just went to shit due to being worth less.

umm, wasn't PPP a trump program??

And he never said or implied the inflation would be permanent

Are you true believers in the Democrat party beginning to see reality? God, I hope so. Their "Policy" positions are a fail.

But the trajectory hasn't changed, it's all because of the pandemic dip.

So don't worry, don't feed into the lie, that we need Trump, or a Republican Congress.

Biden and Harris are doing everything they can, with Trump we'd be headed for a Great Depression.
