One of the many reasons to have an ex-military leader at the top of Government is that they have usually seen and experienced battle and know the actual human costs of some of their decisions.

Haggis hasn't been doing well lately, what with the purges & SignalGate, so Trump is giving him the title "Secretary of War" so he'll feel more like a man.

It’s like they are little boys playing with toys.
Instead of the men in command of the world’s most expensive and powerful military and the hundreds of thousands of Americans that are a part of that.
Absolutely mind boggling.
I’ve never witnessed such a wanton disregard for our military by an Administration.

Looking at the oval office after Dumbo had it gold plated, I believe in the not to distant future Dumbo will take up after Custer and design his own gawdy Horatio Hornblower type uniform. Sound fantastic? Are you sure? Sillier than his head on Mount Rushmore?

Asked some in-laws and family who are currently serving or have served what they thought about this: they think it's stupid. It's all about optics for within the administration. There's a general feeling that folks like Hegseth need to stop reading the Jack Ryan novels written by Ton Clancy and grow the **** up.
To be clear, and I feel the same way, outside of it being a stupid, worthless thing to do...it doesn't really matter because this name change does nothing. It doesn't affect performance, equipment, training, recruitment, etc. Som this is a minor issue, but it shows what the priorities are, which we all know are simply optics for the stupid who think that it does matter. Remember, while Hegseth using CID as bodyguards for his family is legitimate, he has been known to bring in spec op teams for optics at public events.
The sad thing, and possibly the only worrisome thing, is that this behavior is making other militaries not only laugh at us, but now think they are seeing a weakness in leadership of our military where it had been strong before.
