Nope... decades or hundreds of years...
All of the works which would eventually be incorporated into the New Testament would seem to have been written no later than around AD 150
 "decades or centuries". Because that's the same thing
it is from about 123 AD.
Christianity isn't under attack. 80% of the US is Christian, 11% Unaffiliated, 4% Jewish/Hindu/Unitarian/Budhist, 4% atheist and 0.6% Muslim.
But Christians have done it without the promise of 72 virgins.
Sorry I'm a scientist. I don't accept things at face value.
It must have been half ass as the muslims and jews don't accept him as the son of God. Do you think God does things half ass?
No just promise of an eternity in paradise where walls are made of jasper and cities and roads of pure gold.
Please demonstrate where martyrs, in particular, were promised that.No just promise of an eternity in paradise where walls are made of jasper and cities and roads of pure gold.
You're right about one thing - the Gospel writers and Paul, etc., did have an agenda - to tell the truth. If you can document a lie they presented then hop out here and document it. Otherwise I can't give you any credibility on your claim.
You say you believe in Christ. Let me guess: To you he's just a man, but not divine. To you he lived and died, but was not physically resurrected. etc., etc. Right?
Wrong again. B.A. and Th.m. in Biblical Theology. Where's your credentials on the subject?
Please demonstrate where martyrs, in particular, were promised that.

See the standard New Testament introductions listed below under "Further reading": Goodspeed, Kümmel, Duling and Perrin, Koester, Conzelmann and Lindemann, Brown, and Ehrman.
Sorry but I don't follow the OT and feel much of it is nonsense. However, as we are discussing Christianity, Jesus only words on the subject which I could find, were "Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven".That is how heaven is described in scripture. Do you not remember the story of Elijah being taken to heaven?
Moreover, martyrs in scripture are said to reign with Christ for a 1000 years:
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Revelation 20:4
What if this ends up proving he did?
Interesting euphemism for HellThen all of us non believers will go to nonbeliever heaven. Then all the religious people will...................still be religious!!!
It's not? I disagree. I think there is plenty out there in stories of instances showing such, you have google, and I am sure you can find them...The only reason for you to deny such is because you side with those attacking Christianity...My question to you is why do you hate Christians so that you feel you have to spew such hate at them...? If you left them alone, I am sure they would leave you alone....
I'm not surprised at your ignorance when the President of the United States doesn't mention that those killed recently in Kenya, and that's just a part of what's going on in the world, were Christians and those selectively murdering them were Muslims. My point was that Christians outnumber every other religious group by more than 20:1. Hence it's pretty difficult to imagine that they're being "persecuted". One would have to wonder who would be left to be doing the actual persecution. Other Christians?
In fact they were.Additionally, when the Church canonised the bible, contradictory and embarrassing writings were not incorporated.

Black Lives Matter is the slogan but not, apparently, if they are Christian.

Wouldn't it be to Obama's credit? It would be the first successful act of his presidency!"Jesus' tomb found? This must be Obama's fault!"
Again, there is probably a lot of wisdom in Revelations, the Psalms, and elsewhere but I tend to read the teachings of Jesus when I do read the Bible at all.Well Revelation is in the New Testament. That book of Acts venerates martyrdom as well, and its in the NT.
Yes, I did address it.
Tradition holds that the apostle John lived to be a very old man.
In addition...
The opinion of scores of scholars verify the earlier dates for the Gospels, and who wrote them.

One other thing - did you casually dismiss the earliest mention of the resurrection?
Earliest Mention of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ « The Righter Report
Impressive.
Think of what we have now as the Bible as the books that were peer reviewedAdditionally, when the Church canonised the bible, contradictory and embarrassing writings were not incorporated.
I would hardly say scores of scholars. But okay. I'll play along. Yes, the earliest date of the four main gospels is 61 A.D. -- 28 years after the supposed death and resurrection of Jesus.
Did I? Meh. So, again, I'll play along. Even if it was ONLY 10 years after -- it's still 10 years after. Things get lost in translation in a matter of minutes. And for a supernatural event? I'm going to need more than hearsay.
Thank you (I think?).
