The main problem was still the lack of a solid candidate though.


It’s pretty troubling that there’s basically no one in the Democratic Party who wasnactually able to excite and unite a winning coalition other than Obama for about 20 years.


People are not excited about Biden. He’s just seen as the safest choice. The bench is slim judging by 2016 and 2020.

Biden does not generate excitement, but Trump generates all the excitement the election needs - both pro & con. Biden's strength is that he's not like Trump. And after 4 years of constant pandemonium, I think a lot of Americans miss calmness.

Where are you getting 20 years from? Obama was first elected 12 years ago and last elected 8 years ago. Not even close to 20 years. There's also only been one presidential election since Obama was President.

What is troubling is that Republicans can't seem to win the popular vote. The Republican presidential candidate has only won the popular vote in an election once in the 21st century. Actually, only once in 28 years. That should be concerning to Republicans - the electoral college wont save them forever.

You do understand that we really don't know how things would go if we used the popular vote instead of the electoral college. Election strategies would change and some areas of the country wouldn't get much attention. In states like SC, where I live, you might have more voters participating because right now they know Trump is going to win the State and if they miss voting it isn't a big deal. I know it would work the same way in other liberal states. Still, if Biden was my candidate I might not be so stupid to want a popular vote. The guy is pathetic. Nobody is going to go out of their way to vote for that pervert liar. He is a blue ribbon dumbass on top of that with dementia.
