Tonight on MSNBC, Chris Mathews looks into key decisions made by the Bush presidency. It's on now and again tonight at 2:00 am. TiVo it!

Very interesting how Bush made, or didn't make, decisions. :doh

Can you say, "Worst President In History"?

More like the "Most un-American President in History". He was good at what he did, which was:
  • compromise the US Constitution
  • destroy US reputation around the world
  • obliterate US economy
  • turn his back on our heritage
  • **** on our rule of law
  • make a joke out of our judicial system

You can say it but you'd be wrong.

And the reason for this is what?

Because I'm being objective.

Iraq was the right call.
The Patriot Act was the right call.
Domestic eavesdropping was the right call.
Afghanistan was the right call.
Katrina was the right call.
His warnings regarding the Fannie & Freddie mess throughout his entire administration were the right call.
His attempts to help alleviate suffering in Africa was the right call.
His efforts to help improve education in America were well intended.
He freed 50 million Muslims.
His restoration of Presidential powers was the right call.
His keeping our enemies on their heels was the right call.

And he kept us safe for seven and a half years.

Not bad, I'd say.

As Ivan Drago, of the Rocky movie, would say..

YOU.. ARE... WRONG.

Because I'm being objective.

Iraq was the right call. [was in violation of Article 51 of the UN Charter]
The Patriot Act was the right call. [was in violation of the US Constitution]
Domestic eavesdropping was the right call. [was in violation of the FISA law]
Afghanistan was the right call. [was in violation of Article 51 of the UN Charter]
Katrina was the right call. [maybe for white America]
His warnings regarding the Fannie & Freddie mess throughout his entire administration were the right call. [that amounted to only 50% of the foreclosure failures, which could have been avoided without all the deregulation]
His attempts to help alleviate suffering in Africa was the right call. [he hasn't done **** in Africa!]
His efforts to help improve education in America were well intended. [no child left behind was a complete failure]
He freed 50 million Muslims. [where did he do that?]
His restoration of Presidential powers was the right call. [you cannot restore what you never had]
His keeping our enemies on their heels was the right call. [actually created 6 times the amount of enemies]

And he kept us safe for seven and a half years. [coincedence]

Not bad, I'd say.
I'm still laughing over your "objective" claim!

Here,s a pretty good example of the deciders choice of Secretory Of Defense.

<< Richard Clarke: That night, on 9/11, Rumsfeld came over and the others, and the president finally got back, and we had a meeting. And Rumsfeld said, You know, we’ve got to do Iraq, and everyone looked at him—at least I looked at him and Powell looked at him—like, What the hell are you talking about? And he said—I’ll never forget this—

There just aren’t enough targets in Afghanistan. We need to bomb something else to prove that we’re, you know, big and strong and not going to be pushed around by these kind of attacks.

And I made the point certainly that night, and I think Powell acknowledged it, that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. That didn’t seem to faze Rumsfeld in the least.

It shouldn’t have come as a surprise. It really didn’t, because from the first weeks of the administration they were talking about Iraq. I just found it a little disgusting that they were talking about it while the bodies were still burning in the Pentagon and at the World Trade Center.>>

I could, but it would be in poor taste. I mean, the man doesn't even officially take the Oath of Office until next month.

Ohhh...preemptive partisanship. I love it!

Well actually, I did notice something today...while Bush is being hammered in the media for trying to protect us and implement policies that will strengthen us against the global conflicts we face, that same media is still engaged in a slobbering love affair with Obama, parading pictures of him shirtless sun bathing like it's actual news and worthy of our attention.

I just hope they scrutinize their chosen one like they did Bush. Only then will we ever know what his true mettle is.

That's interesting.

Though Rumseld was born in 1932, some 20 years after Ronald Reagan, his comment to suggest a show of force and to show that we are big and strong reminds me of Reagan's largely symbolic deployment of the Marines in Beirut, Lebanon in the 1980's. We all know that ended disastrously. Maybe men of a certain age or era believe in the power of symbolism. Maybe it once worked. Maybe it doesn't work now.

But the President replaced Rummy and it is the Decider who we are discussing here.

The question that should come to mind when reading the Vanity Fair info is why the President might have decided to go into Iraq.

And unless I'm mistaken there is nothing which answers that question in the cited article.

I believe that the word you probably should have used is not "hope," but "wish." "Hope" implies a reasonable belief that a thing might occur.

I think that you're far too bright to believe that there is a significant possibility of this in the near future.

I have sensed from some reporters a turn of the page as it pertains to coverage of the as of yet un-inaugurated Obama and administration as though their attitude is 'now that he is safely elected we can go back to being the "media" again.' Some even seem hyper critical like closing the barn door after the horses have gotten out.

Or in this case after a still suspect Obama has gotten in.

98% of historians said that Bush's presidency was a failure.

I thought the documentary was fascinating.

Wow! Only 2% of them are living in reality?! Shocking!

LOL I realize that you're the one who isn't living in reality. I feel sorry for people like you.

Oh brother. Can you come up with something more original?

Feel sorry for me all you want. I absolutely adore my husband (and vice versa). My son is happy, cute, and lovable. I am getting a $4000 pay raise at the beginning of the year (my husband is getting a $6000 pay raise). And Barack Obama is going to be president on January 20, 2009. Life is great for someone like me. I don't mind if you feel sorry for me.

Cheers! :2wave:

To that, goes this quote and argument :

“An evil exists that threatens every man, woman and child of this great nation. We must take steps to insure our domestic security and protect our Homeland.”

And that is a good argument for homeland security, no doubt, and would strengthen your post. In fact, I know you would have to agree with that quote. After reading your post, you'd be lying if you said you did not.

The only problem I have with this quote, is that it was Adolf Hitler who said it before doing away with Germany's liberties, and making it easier to establish the gestapo.

Funny how history repeats itself, isn't it? The rest of your post is so off base, it isn't even funny. Sad, actually - The state Bush has put us in.

Actually today I saw the media questioning if he can handle the scrutiny as he gave the media the slip so he could take his girls to a water park.
