Mykola Zlochevsky owns Busima Holdings. When the corrupt Russian backed Viktor Yanukovych took power he appointed Zlochevsky Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources.

A man who owns a natural gas company was put in charge of natural gas. This is a clear conflict of interest. Of course, Zlochevsky used his power to grant contracts to his company. His company size increased 9 fold because of it.

That's the corruption. You have a politician who is also a businessman using his position to enrich himself.

That's what we have with Donald Trump.

1. He refuses to release his tax returns. Traditionally, the reason presidents have released their tax returns to disclose potential conflicts of interest.

2. He refuses to use a blind trust to separate himself from his business while he's president.

3. Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner was working with Qatar then got a $1.4 Billion bailout from a Qatar linked company.

Trump is not cleaning up the swamp. He's bringing Ukraine levels of corruption to the U.S.

But Republicans are so partisan and so mesmerized by Trump's personality cult, that they don't demand adherence to ethical standards. Jared should not be working in the White House. Officials should not be staying at Trump hotels. Trump should have placed his business in a blind trust.

2. You're deflecting. Even if somehow Schiff had conflicts of interests, it wouldn't excuse what Trump is doing.

I think what Hunter Biden did, taking a job working for a corrupt oligarch, taking paychecks from a company whose profit increased 9 fold due to corruption, is morally reprehensible.

But Hunter Biden is not Joe Biden. And Joe Biden did nothing to help Hunter Biden by pressing Ukraine to fire Shokin. Shokin was protecting Hunter Biden's boss.

At the same time, Trump had no problem hiring Paul Manafort who worked for Yanukovich and helped him in his corruption schemes. Manfort actually helped Yanukovich attack anti-corruption reformers. And Manfort filled his pockets with millions. Glad he's in prison.

So Trump going after Hunter Biden while he had no problem hiring and defending Paul Manafort is crazy. But Trump supporters eat it up like a bunch of dupes.

I agree that Hunter Biden working for a company owned by some corrupt oligarch is not illegal but maybe morally questionable. But Hunter Biden is a private citizen. Joe Biden didn't hire him to work in the White House like Jared and Ivanka.

It seems the Trump defenders want to degrade our democracy and make it more like the dysfunctional democracies around the world.

1. They want business people working in governments with all kinds of conflicts between their roles and their businesses

2. They want presidents who are free to selectively investigate their opponents

They don't seem to appreciate what makes America great.
