Do Republicans care about the constitution any more?
They don't seem to have any problem changing or just flat out ignoring it if they don't like it so why are they even bothering to pretend they still care about it?

Will they cry foul if Trump cancels the mid-terms or even the main election in 2028?

🥱 Liberals have been melting down over "dictator" Trump not leaving office since 2020 and earlier.

Yes, we're concerned as for the first time in history it's actually a possibility.
Trump himself has mentioned it so you can't somehow claim it's entirely impossible.

Something this important must be 100% and the idea that elections are 100% solid is a must no matter who's in power.
I would also be against Obama going for a third term or threatening to cancel elections if he does win.
I thought you guys loved the constitution but you sure don't seem to mind ignoring it or just breaking it completely as with birthright citizenship of deporting US citizens.

What do you mean "first time?" What was 2020 then? The zeroth time?

Trump never thought for a second he could lose to Biden.
This time he's can't run again by law which is why he might just ignore the law and decide to cancel the elections.

Never underestimate Trumps ability to delude himself about his own infalibility.

Another day, another delusional leftist meltdown about the bad orange man...

By the way, being from the UK, how often does your King/Queen leave? Is it every 4 to 8 years?

How within our federal/state system might Trump cancel national elections? Unilaterally, he can't. Not without the collaboration of congress and the acquiescence of the states.

Article I, Section 4, Clause 1:

The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.

Any Congressperson supporting a suspension of national elections might consider relocating to Canada or maybe the south of France. They will not be welcomed back into the arms of their home state, that's for certain.

We like the Constitution just fine - although we disagree with a lot of the BS dems seem to think is "constitutional", e.g. sneaking into the country and living for decades sucking up benefits intended for those here legally.

Get back to us when he does.

The difference is the King is a figurehead who doesnt make policy.
If you knew anything at all about the monarchy you'd know that.

Perhaps not..................historically, people have given their lives to protect their egos, and Trumpers have sold their souls in a variety of ways so far..........so no....

I don't think that will work out the way the monarchists hope.

Please show where a monarch has ever refused to appoint the PM after an election or being chosen by the party in power.
Are you done pretending they have no power?
Also show where any Minister has been removed or blocked from being appointed.

Any at all will do.

These powers are not used and if they were it would cause an instant constitutional crisis and may end the monarchy forever.

Are you done pretending they have no power?

Again if you knew anything at all about our system you'd know those powers are ceremonial.
No monarch would dare refuse to give assent to a new PM as it would cause instant chaos and as I said most likely start the process to become a republic.

Again, please show where any PM has been blocked from power by a monarch.

It would be akin to a US president ordering a nuclear strike out of the blue on a US city.
Yes, technically he might be allowed to do so but do you think the order would be followed?

That's not what the link says. Deal with it.

Trump left office despite loads of leftists melting down 5 years ago that he wouldn't. Deal with it.

OK then show where it has happened and the monarch has intervened in UK politics.
The last queen was well known for staying out of politics and not giving an opinion.
Again if you had any idea at all you'd know this stuff.
One of the reasons the monarchy in the UK is so popular is that they aren't politicians or political active.

Just having a power doesnt mean they will or can ever use it.

OK then show me where Trump stayed in office on January 21, 2021.

As I said Trump didn't think he could ever lose so why would he bother planning for such an event.
Trump never plans anything which can be seen perfectly by his stream of consciousness tarrifs that pop out of nowhere and are repealed just as fast.

He has the forward planning ability of an excitable puppy.

This time he knows he can't legally run again so may decide to just ignore the law and run again or just stay in power.
Trump has ignored the law before, he may do so again.
