And, one by one, all this lawfare opposition is being tossed in the trash by the Supreme Court.Below are excerpts from The Atlantic article Atlantic Link . A subscription-free archived copy can be found here https://archive.ph/37iVz
You could be right and we will be an autocracy in 3 years. Or the courts could save us from that awful outcome. We'll see. And, one by one, all this lawfare opposition is being tossed in the trash by the Supreme Court.
At best, this "anti-Trump strategy" is nothing more than a speed bump. Y'all can't keep it up for three more years and Trump WILL achieve his America First goals.
Utter nonsense. You obviously don't know the definition of the words you bandy about. You could be right and we will be an autocracy in 3 years.
I'm quite satisfied with the word autocracy. It's well accepted among non-MAGA as Trump's goal.Utter nonsense. You obviously don't know the definition of the words you bandy about.
autocracygovernment in which one person possesses unlimited powerDefinition of AUTOCRACY
the authority or rule of an autocrat; government in which one person possesses unlimited power; a community or state governed by autocracy… See the full definitionwww.merriam-webster.com
Not only do we NOT have that now, it is impossible that we'll ever see that in the US. We have a Constitution that prevents it.
He wants to be a dictator, or probably declared king, but as usual, he just doesn't have the brain power, despite his "MIT connection". It's just reactionary, or perceived slight, that drives him. He certainly can't take what he deserves.Below are excerpts from The Atlantic article Atlantic Link . A subscription-free archived copy can be found here https://archive.ph/37iVz
The first seven months of Trump’s Oval Office do-over have been, with occasional exception, a tale of ruthless domination. The Democratic opposition is feeble and fumbling, the federal bureaucracy traumatized and neutered. Corporate leaders come bearing gifts, the Republican Party has been scrubbed of dissent, and the street protests are diminished in size. Even the news media, a major check on Trump’s power in his first term, have faded from their 2017 ferocity, hobbled by budget cuts, diminished ratings, and owners wary of crossing the president.
One exception has stood out: A legal resistance led by a patchwork coalition of lawyers, public-interest groups, Democratic state attorneys general, and unions has frustrated Trump’s ambitions. Hundreds of attorneys and plaintiffs have stood up to him, feeding a steady assembly line of setbacks and judicial reprimands for a president who has systematically sought to break down limits on his own power. Of the 384 cases filed through August 28 against the Trump administration, 130 have led to orders blocking at least part of the president’s efforts, and 148 cases await a ruling, according to a review by Just Security. Dozens of those rulings are the final word, with no appeal by the government, and others have been stayed on appeal, including by the Supreme Court.
Without the court fights, the public would not know about many of the activities of Elon Musk’s DOGE employees in the early months of the administration. They would not have read headlines in which federal judges accuse the president’s team of perpetrating a “sham” or taking actions “shocking not only to judges, but to the intuitive sense of liberty that Americans far removed from courthouses still hold dear.” Kilmar Abrego Garcia would not have become a household name. Even cases that Trump ultimately won on appeal—such as his ability to fire transgender soldiers, defund scientific research, and dismiss tens of thousands of government employees—were delayed and kept in the news by the judicial process.
Since Inauguration Day, executive orders have been defanged or blocked, agency closures delayed, government-employee firings reversed. Deportation flights have been delayed, law firms have freed themselves from Trump’s retaliation, and foreign students have won the ability to continue studying at U.S. universities. Courts have forced the president to restore cut services and spending to AmeriCorps, the U.S. African Development Foundation, the CDC, and other agencies. They have upended an effort by the Office of Refugee Resettlement to make it more difficult to release unaccompanied minors from government custody and forced Trump to pay for foreign-aid bills he had hoped to stiff-arm. A federal appeals court ruled Friday that many of Trump’s tariffs were illegal, setting up a likely hearing by the Supreme Court.
Legal wheels turn slowly and it's difficult to see how effective the anti-Trump legal maneuvers have been. But in reading this article one can see that they have been effective. Have they stopped Trump? Not yet. But they are slowing down his Project 2025 efforts and have the potential to stop much of his illegal activity. Trump will then have to turn to the gutless GOP to pass in Congress his desires.
Translation: Trump hating useful idiots don't care about dictionary definitions.I'm quite satisfied with the word autocracy. It's well accepted among non-MAGA as Trump's goal.
blah, blah...Oh, and the Constitution. That's what Trump is violating day in and day out and the reason so many law suits have been issued against his actions. Trump doesn't give one shit for the Constitution and it's difficult to see how his followers, including you, do as well.
Hungary, Venezuela, Turkey and other countries had a constitution before democratic backsliding took place. We're now in the backsliding phase. If Trump has a successful next three years, we will be an autocracy.
You might be the most gigantic HUGE federal government supporter that I've ever seen. And, one by one, all this lawfare opposition is being tossed in the trash by the Supreme Court.

Utter nonsense...fueled by overwhelming TDS.
Especially when he's not.Democracy hating useful idiots don't care that Trump is marching toward autocracy.
It isn't Trump's 2025 agenda. It was the Heritage Foundation's. Trump is cleaning up democrat messes, making blue cities safe for citizens, and preventing black folks from dying in the streets. The Dems could simply offer to work with him in that goal, but they'd rather allow crime to continue than to do the right thing!Wonder how much of Trump's P2025 agenda could make it through Congress. There, it is forced to undergo public scrutiny. If Republicans in Congress are having a tough time answering to their constituents in town halls for Trump, having this agenda enacted as acts of Congress would make it worse for them.
Uhm, there is no "autocracy". We won democratically, but since he defeated Democrats, you guys call that "autocratic". When 2028 rolls around, he'll step down. By then he'll accomplish what the Biden admin didn't even attempt to do, which is to improve the country, reduce drug trafficking, reduce blue city crime and murder, reduce taxes for the low and middle classes, and hopefully extricate the America-h8ing Marxists from our most important institutions, so that Democrats can't keep using them to oppress and persecute citizens who oppose them.Democracy hating useful idiots don't care that Trump is marching toward autocracy.

They've changed the definition of yet another term(autocracy) to vilify anyone who democratically takes away their precious grifting power.Especially when he's not.
Uhm, he's not a convicted rapist, and Biden was FAR more creepy around young girls, who's hair he publicly sniffed and who's bodies he publicly fondled. What's astonishing is that foreign observers have been warning America of the danger of this man since before he took that ride down the golden escalator.
Americans DELIBERATELY CHOSE to elected a convicted rapist/fraud.
And NOW you're worried about your democracy?
You sold that down the river after Obama
Why do so many leftists oppose the act of improving the country and making it's citizens safer and more prosperous? It boggles the mind..You might be the most gigantic HUGE federal government supporter that I've ever seen.
And we all know why.
No, Trump's legal and constitutional policies are being (temporarily) blocked by left wing activist judges at the behest of Democrats who don't want him to achieve anything positive, because that will embarrass them.I'm quite satisfied with the word autocracy. It's well accepted among non-MAGA as Trump's goal.

The colonists cried foul when King George III's troops were used for law enforcement. Americans revolted and formed the USA. One of the bedrocks of the new nation is that troops would not be used for law enforcement. That is the job of local police. Trump is violating the law to uphold the law.It isn't Trump's 2025 agenda. It was the Heritage Foundation's. Trump is cleaning up democrat messes, making blue cities safe for citizens, and preventing black folks from dying in the streets. Bottom line: they hate Trump for democratically taking power from them, so they'll sacrifice anything to oppose him. They are a corrupt, evil mess, who only care about clawing back power. But you guys call that "autocracy". If doing right by the people of dysfunctional blue cities is autocratic, then I'm pretty sure he'll accept that revised, BS label.
So you're not a small federal government/Constitution guy?Why do so many leftists oppose the act of improving the country and making it's citizens safer and more prosperous? It boggles the mind..
How exactly will he "end democracy"? Damn, you guys need to stop believing the obvious liars in the "news" media who've proven themselves to be liars. You could be right and we will be an autocracy in 3 years. Or the courts could save us from that awful outcome. We'll see.
Either way, your hero will go down in history as the worst president ever. He will be the President who tried the hardest to make us an autocracy and failed, or be the President who ended our democracy before it reached 250 years.
All Democrats have to do is coordinate with him. The troops aren't freaking taking over the city govt btw, they are just making everyday life safer for regular citizens! In DC, Trump proved he could drop major crime within days, which shows that Democrats could've done the same if they wished. It also proves they don't wish......The colonists cried foul when King George III's troops were used for law enforcement. Americans revolted and formed the USA. One of the bedrocks of the new nation is that troops would not be used for law enforcement. That is the job of local police. Trump is violating the law to uphold the law.
Just because the people of a city elected Democrats to run the city and it's a massive city with associated crime does not mean that Democrats are soft on crime or that Republicans are any less soft on crime. Houston has a higher crime rate than Chicago but no troops are being sent in. This is being done for political purposes.
W had slipping polling so he started the Iraq war.
Trump has slipping polling so he is sending troops into Democratic cities.
Republicans fall for it every time.
Obama had slipping polling so he took out OBL and worked with Congress to create a now very popular new Healthcare Law that allowed people with preexisting conditions to even be able to get insurance, and provided coverage for a lot of low income people who could not previously afford it. Republicans fell for the right wing propaganda telling them Obamacare was terrible, (there are no death squads) but when it came time to vote it out they couldn't do it because too many people got helped and it would have made them very unpopular. Basically, if Republicans had voted out Obamacare, Republicans would have been voted out.
Q: Why no troops being sent into Houston or Kansas City? Higher crime rates than Chicago. A: Because they are in red states.
It's political. Trump doesn't care about the law nor the Constitution. He violates any law he feels like he can get away with it. He must feel totally immune. He raped E Jean Carroll and got away with it. All that happened was he got ordered to pay restitution. He served no time. He, as an adulterer, lied on campaign disclosure forms - a felony - and got caught. Again he did no time. He is a felon; and ignorant Republicans elected him. This whole 'law and order' crap is nothing but a bunch of crap, a distraction from falling polling because unpopular import taxes are raising prices.
If inner city crime can be reduced by sending troops in then how long are they going to stay and how much does that cost? Are they going to stay forever? How much higher taxes are you willing to pay to have "Democrat messes" cleaned up? Should all Americans be taxed more to send federal troops into cities with high crime rates forever? Because once the crime rate is reduced, if troops are pulled out, guess what happens to the crime rate after they are gone? Wouldn't it be expected to go right back where it was before the troops went in?
And, one by one, all this lawfare opposition is being tossed in the trash by the Supreme Court.
