Droughts? Not here. My Daughter called this AM to let us know her house is about to be flooded, and by noon the water was about 30cm deep on the first floor. She had to move all she could to the second floor. Her landlord lives directly across the street in a one story house. The military came by and provided everyone with bottled water.
We're lucky, we live at the highest point in our village, in the oldest house in the area. Rainy season (May-October) should end this month, so unless the creek in the back rises more than 4 meters, we should be safe.
Perhaps should require a degree in Science and/or Mathematics to run for political office?

That's what climate change is about. It's about unstable weather patterns. Which translated means, it can be flooding where you live and I can be dealing with ongoing drought. The similarity is extremes. The further we go into global warming, the less "stable" and "predictable" our weather will get. I live in the southwest, and we've been experiencing sever heatwaves, no rain while at the same time the east is suffering from the unpredictable flood in NC from a hurricane.
