Will you use your right to bear arms as a citizen against ICE if they try to detain you?

Many on the right claim that the reason for the right to bear arms is to counter the tyranny of the government, it’s over reach.

This poll isn’t about rounding up illegals per se, but the government showing up at your door and rounding you up, because they thoughtk you are an illegal and/or harboring illegals even though you are a citizen.

So, if you are an armed citizen and the government is coming after you and yours without a warrant or even the pretense of due process…will you use your firearm against the tyranny of the government being aimed at you?

Remember, this is a popular argument for the 2nd Amendment: defending the people from the government’s tyranny.

Curious question.

Follow on then...are you here illegally in your scenario?

The 2nd Amendment doesn't give you the right to shoot federal agents.

I thought the original intent of 2A was to be the last line of defence against a tyranny. What conditions would you suggest need to be in place before this mechanism is triggered? I'm not arguing, I'm asking. :)

I don't know. Here in Texas you can't resist an arrest even if it's unlawful, but it's not totally illegal to shoot police officers entering your house to execute a search warrant either.

I would support anyone who lawfully defends themselves, their family, and their property from ICE agents using deadly force.

Yup. The resolution for an abuse of police authority is found in a courtroom.

This is a land mine of a question if I ever saw one.

It is interesting to see the 2A crowd be so permissive of federal government tyranny during the tRump administration.

Trumpism is about entirely antithetical to American conservatism afaIct

Personally? Probably not. I do not think I would ever engage in deadly violence even if it were perfectly justifiable. But I would not decry anyone who did.

Virtually everyone is an armed citizen.

What would you do?

I would never suggest shooting ICE agents.

What if you don't have a Second Amendment?
We don't so maybe you can point out the section of your 2nd that allows jaywalkers to be shot.

The 2nd isn't for the convenience of the state. Try to figure out what you're talking about.

the question is about you

so, @VanceMack, are you here illegally?
Then the question is stupid on its face. The assumption would have to be that ICE is doing something illegal...engaged in tyranny...and NOT just trying to un**** the mess that the last piece of shit rat administration caused and the current crop of rat elected officials are exacerbating. To that end, I have no concern ICE is going to target me, and the question is stupid and dishonest.

No, this about YOU, as a US CITIZEN, being arrested by ICE, or a member of your family being arrested by ICE, with no evidence, probably no warrant and most likely will not be given due process as they feel you are NOT a US citizen...which means incarceration without a reason or time limit and possible deportation, up to and possibly including other members of your family and possibly be denied legal representation.

Would you use a firearm to protect yourself from government over-reach by agents who may or may not have a warrant, who really don't want to give you due process as they feel you aren't a legal citizen anyway...in taht hypothetical, would you use a firearm to protect yourself as has been popularly stated by supporters of the 2nd Amendment who feel that it is to enable to protect themselves from the government?

Again...you are positing a stupid question based on your mindless assertion that ICE is evil and tyrannical and is targeting en masse US citizens.
