Texas abortion law sparks anger, resignation | www.ktvu.com
A new Texas law requires that women seeking an abortion to see a sonogram of the fetus, as well are asked to hear the heartbeat of the fetus.
Words cannot describe how disappointed I am.
Texas, is clearly a stupid place.
But at least they ain't forcing women to undergo unwanted vaginal invasion, like in VA.
Depends how far along they are. This idea that women are just a bunch of ignorant idiots that have no idea what they're actually doing when they decide to terminate a pregnancy is really getting tiresome.
This law isn't going to change much. The doctor can always do the sonogram and tell the woman "This is what a parasite looks like - Would you like to be dewormed now?".
Alright, I'm sick of this crap.
First off, a fetus is attached to it's mother. It's something called a ****ing umbilical cord. Until very late into the prgnancy can a fetus survive on it's own.
Until then, it is entirely dependant on the mother. It is a part of her. It is a piece of her body. She has every right in the world to do what she wants with her body. You, nor anyone else in the world has any right what so ever, to command her. This is blatant stupid attempts at convincing her to make an already difficult desicion. This is borderline mental harrassment.
You are a ****ing idiot and are the epitome of ignorance and superstition that should have died in the dark ages.
Good day to you, sir.
If a ZEF were a mere piece of the woman's body like an apendix, you wouldn't be so passionet about this. Your reaction betrays the fact that you know there's a moral quandry about terminating your child.
Absolutely right...One progressive in here is already referring to it as a child....If this is the case how can some be so callous as to still kill it and throw it in the trash.

If all you have is emotive ad hom, throw it anyway.... some of it might stick.
child=product of procreation.
that's all it means.
And when in your mind does it become a human?
j-mac
start a new thread, if you want to talk about that.

No, I asked a simple question....
HAHAHA! The guttmacher so called study...What a joke...Isn't that the same study that liberal destructo-bots like Pelosi are quoting as proving that some 98% of Catholic women have used contraceptives?
Yes, let's see, they excluded any Catholics that were not using contraceptives, and Catholics in any other catagory that wouldn't use contraceptives, then basically said of the Catholic women that use contraceptives, 98% of them use contraceptives....What a joke.

It is hard to tell if they don't know what they are doing when they have the act that creates the pregnancy in the first place....

right, because women are just stupid.
right, because women are just stupid.
Not stupid, just incredibly shallow and pathetic.
Being a man of integrity, I trust you were about to tell Arcana XV to keep her hatred of men for another thread. I'll stand out of your way while you do that.um, save your hatred of women for another thread.
The Guttmacher Institute has been collecting the most comprehensive data on abortion in the US for decades. If you don't trust their numbers, why don't you provide an unbiased source that contradicts their findings instead of guffawing like an ass?I promise I'll look at it with an unbiased eye. Unlike many here, I actually don't have an agenda on the issue.

Sourcing of abortion stats is very challenging because data collection isn't compelled. This means that some states report info, some report more, and some don't report. I'd say that Guttmacher is a reliable source and also that it's extremely difficult to locate information that is not from a source with a lean. Guttmacher's is Planned Parenthood, but I would say too that although much information comes from pro-life sources, this doesn't necessarily delegitimize the information any more that Guttmacher's being the research arm of PP invalidates its.
As for the Texas law itself, IF it's true that abortion clinics reassure clients that what they're aborting is just an unimportant bit of tissue, providing those clients with sonograms so that they can see and hear for themselves exactly what they're aborting is a counterbalance.
