Sid Miller, the former Chair of the Texas House Homeland Security & Public Safety and Agriculture and Livestock Committees, and now the frontrunner in the Republican race for Texas Agriculture Commissioner, said today that the Bureau of Land Management’s decision to halt their forced removal of Cliven Bundy’s cattle in Nevada was only a temporary delay in the federal agencies attempt to violate the private property and water rights of Americana and warned Texans to remain vigilant against future BLM abuses.

Miller went further, calling on Texas Governor Rick Perry to mobilize the Texas State Guard, if necessary, in order to prevent the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) from seizing 90,000 acres of land along a 116 mile stretch of the Red River.

Miller said that televised images of armed federal agents attempting a forced cattle round-up on a rural Nevada range have alarmed farmers, ranchers, and landowners, as well ordinary citizens across the Southwest. Miller says the actions of the BLM are unlawful and have ignited a new range war—this one between law-abiding citizens and their own federal government.

Just keep pushing.

Re: Texas Front-Runner for Statewide Office Calls on Governor to Mobilize National Gu

Perry won't do it and it wouldn't work anyway. It would also be a really stupid thing to do. The best thing would be for both sides to back off a bit, let things settle down. Then try to settle it in a peaceful manner.

This is the incident in which he calls for Perry to mobilize troops.

I can't wait to see how Dirty Perry handles this call to take on the U.S. Gov.

No opinion yet, but I appreciate your beginning this thread because I hadn't heard anything about these claims.

Texas takes on the federal government on a regular basis...where you been?

Texas takes on the federal government on a regular basis...where you been?

Oh...just hangin out in the Hill Country watching the deer and the wild turkey roaming around on my place.

Wonder if those folks need a temporary place to graze their cattle. For a really small sum per head, I'd lease my place out.

Re: Texas Front-Runner for Statewide Office Calls on Governor to Mobilize National Gu

Well this kind of rhetoric will play well with the bizzaro anti government crowd... but in reality will never happen.

Please explain this a bit further. Perhaps some examples.

Re: Texas Front-Runner for Statewide Office Calls on Governor to Mobilize National Gu

So. Perry will call up the National Guard and then Obama pulls out his "The National Defense Authorization Act 2008 Pub.L. 110-18" card and turns them on Perry....

I don't think he thought this thing through...

Re: Texas Front-Runner for Statewide Office Calls on Governor to Mobilize National Gu

Do you really think Perry will call up the National Guard?

I thought you'd be on your way to Nevada by now to fight the good fight.

That's for much younger men . I'll wait till they come to my doorstep.

First of all, nothing that comes out of Texas surprises me. Secondly, it isn't private property. It's Federal land that they have decided to appropriate for themselves. Right wing nutjobs in Texas and elsewhere need to be smacked down on this. And hard.

Nah, these folks talk a good fight, but that's it. They're internet warriors.

Re: Texas Front-Runner for Statewide Office Calls on Governor to Mobilize National Gu

No, don't do hunters.

Darn! We actually have our own herd of deer, I just don't have the 10 acres to legally shoot from.

If the SHTF, they're livestock regardless.

Are we talking about the land in Texas? If so, it is private property and the FedGov would need to buy it with our permission.
