Police say the new law makes it harder to do their jobs

I guess guns are less dangerous than cars.

Acceptable risk

Colorado has been open carry for longer than I've lived here. (Just so you know, I've lived in Colorado for 31 years.)

I'm glad Texas has finally joined us.

Great! Sign up with a a well regulated militia and you can have a gun.
That wouldn't be ideal in today's world.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Why is our government infringing on our right to bear arms?

Do you think that if we by some fluke were invaded, that people wouldn't form local militias and defend their communities?

Do you think people signed up then?

Good news for good people!

Now the predators might (only "might," for most of them are not very intelligent) think twice before they prey on good people.

Carrying guns around without training on how to use them or how to be safe with them, thats not smart.

Crazed state just got crazier

I feel sorry for people who feel the need to carry a gun around. Therapy could help.
Yeah, it's a weird obsession. As if any of the morons toting firearms are actually going to need one as they buy their Big Macs and super-sized fries from the comfort of their oversized vehicles.

All males 17-44 are already in the militia. See 10 USC 246.

How old are you?

What percentage of those who choose to open carry fall into this group?

I have seen no statistics on this, so any guess I make would be pretty random, but in a sane world, it would be 0%

Too old.

(b)The classes of the militia are—
(1)
the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2)
the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

So an "unorganized militia" counts as a "well regulated" militia. Okay.

On what planet is it okay for 21-year-old, untrained, unlicensed kid to walk around town strapped? Not this one.

I think every state should be open carry based on the constitution 🤷‍♂️
after that, i would gladly compromise and agree to a version of universal background checks in exchange for making my conceal weapons permit national just like my license is.

Since the Constitution granted Congress the power to "organize, arm and discipline" the militia under Article One, Section Eight, Clause Sixteen, and Congress passed the law that gabe us 10 USC 246, your opinion on "well regulated" doesn't matter. Additionally, Heller affirmed that the right to keeo and bear arms isn't dependent upon militia membership.

What would training do?

Texas has more needless COVID deaths lately. I'd say they're gonna have more needless domestic deaths now too. That one will be permanent though.

And then in 200 years the people that haven't been born yet will reevaluate laws and do what they think is correct.

Neither cars nor guns are dangerous. It is the people who are dangerous, not inanimate objects.

They ought to at least regulate how many paces are required for duels outside of bars.

That was written before the Bill or Rights. The 2nd amendments clearly states the right to bear arms will not be infringed.

Alaska has always been constitutional carry, even before Statehood in 1959. The reason we are seeing even more States become constitutional carry is because of McDonald v. Chicago, 561 U.S. 742 (2010). It is an infringement for government to require any permit or license to exercise any individual right. Now that the Supreme Court has finally held the States accountable to the restrictions of the Second Amendment, they must abolish the 232 years of infringements the States have placed on the individual right to keep and bear arms.

This hasn't been necessary in all of the other states that allow open carry. This isn't a new thing.

How is that different than what I wrote?
