I am sure everyone remembers what Murtha said about our troops in Iraq about this incident....He had them tried and convicted before they were even charged....Well he was wrong...........JUST SHUT UP MURTHA!!!!

Six officers and a senior enlisted Marine have given sworn statements that there was nothing they saw or heard about a firefight in Iraq in 2005 that would make them think any Marine purposely killed Iraqi civilians, according to a law firm investigating the case.

The Thomas More Law Center, which is defending Chessani, a Colorado Marine, at no cost, said his maximum punishment could be dismissal, loss of retirement and three years in prison. He successfully directed his soldiers through the Haditha ambush, but then got caught in U.S. Rep. John Murtha's firefight of words as the anti-war congressman tried to capitalize on the situation.

Murtha, chairman of the House military appropriations subcommittee, has publicly accused Marines of being "cold-blooded murderers" and officers of covering it up. Thompson said that taint is what the lawyers now are trying to remove from the case.

Sorry APS, but that is not proof. People "plea bargain" to something they didn't do every day. That means that they would rather take a known lesser punishment than chance a harsher punishment if convicted, despite their being innocent...and given the way this war has been demonized, I'd probably do the same thing despite the fact I've never been in Iraq.

People often confess to crimes they didn't commit for other reasons as well.

I said proof. What proof...evidence...do you have?

Pssst...APS...you've obviously forgotten that this is the United States with a few inconveniences to liberals like the constitution...you remember don't you...back in elementary school when you heard a phrase you have gotten out of touch with..."innocent until PROVEN guilty".

A plea bargain does not constitute "proven guilty"...evidence does, and you have none...also, in this country, the government has to prove you guilty, you don't have to prove yourself innocent. A little detail you liberals find disconcerting.

BTW...I just checked the Webster's Dictionery...both spellings are acceptable, and MY spelling is what's on the cover of the dictionEry. Sorry...you lose again.

How many people accused Kerry of being a traitor when he wasn't charged or indicted. Again, gotta love the Conservative Hypocrisy here.

And Bubba, if someone plea bargains, yes, they are still considered guilty.
 
The purpose of the article is to bash Murtha in order to prop up the Iraq war. A Republican said nearly the same thing:

"This was a small number of Marines who fired directly on civilians and killed them," said Representative John Kline, a Minnesota Republican and former Marine who was briefed two weeks ago by Marine Corps officials. "This is going to be an ugly story."

What a bunch of BULLSHIT! A giant pile of BULLSHIT! This partisan site that posted this partisan article only quotes the defense attorney! Nowhere have these soldiers been exonerated or found not guilty!

This entire thread was created with one purpose, to attack Congressman Murtha and you cited a bullshit partisan article to do so!

How about I print a story from a bullshit partisan left wing site? Would you accept that as creditable? I seriously doubt it...actually I KNOW you would not. You're doing the exact same thing in reverse.

How come, BTW, you're not including Republican Congressman John Kline in your slanted, partisan attack? He made accusatory charges against the very same soldiers.
