Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) says that he must be “doing something right” when critics compare him to Sen. Joe McCarthy, a Republican politician who was officially censured in the 1950s for using false accusations of communism to smear opponents.
“Is McCarthy someone you admire?” reporter Todd J. Gillman wondered.
“I’m not going to engage in the back and forth and the attacks,” Cruz replied, declining to distance himself from McCarthy.
A perfect spokesman for the new and moribund GOP.
The thing the GOP most worries about is that they aren't in control at this time in our history - all else is irrelevant when they are in power.
This is going to be so much fun.
Such a fine example of binary thinking. If everyone doesn't do exactly what Ted Cruz demands - that makes them traitors to his imaginary nation.
SEN. TED CRUZ (R-TX): "The senior Senator from Arizona urged this body to trust the Republicans. Let me be clear: I don’t trust the Republicans, and I don’t trust the Democrats. And I think a whole lot of Americans likewise don’t trust the Republicans and the Democrats because it is leadership in both parties that has gotten us into this mess. … What we are doing to our kids and grandkids, I think is immoral. Now, I commend the Democrats in this body for their candor. The Democrats and President Obama have been very explicit that it is their intention to raise the debt ceiling and to do so with no conditions whatsoever, just to keep borrowing and borrowing and borrowing money without any structural reforms to fix the problems. That is an intellectually consistent position. I think it is a dangerous position, but it is at least candid and that is the reason why everyday for sixty days the Democrats have opposed taking the debt ceiling off the table in this discussion. But unfortunately, one of the reasons we got into this mess is because a lot of Republicans were complicit in the spending spree, and that’s why so many Americans are disgusted with both sides of this House."

I think it would be more like an arena along the lines of the Thunderdome with mixed martial arts fighters. Ted Cruz is proud of his refusal to compromise - 100 of him would result in chaos at a minimum - but hey, you can dream, it's your right to hold all the fantasies you wish
Has Obama distanced himself from Bill Ayers yet?
ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, April 16: An early organizing meeting for your state senate campaign was held at his house, and your campaign has said you are friendly. Can you explain that relationship for the voters, and explain to Democrats why it won’t be a problem?
Obama: George, but this is an example of what I’m talking about.
This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who’s a professor of English in Chicago, who I know and who I have not received some official endorsement from. He’s not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis.
And the notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago when I was 8 years old, somehow reflects on me and my values, doesn’t make much sense, George.
This is a guy who engaged in some despicable acts 40 years ago when I was eight years old. By the time I met him, 10 or 15 years ago, he was a college professor of education at the University of Illinois

Ted Cruz does not have a future outside of being a fringe politician. Like Paul Ryan.
Tis true - the irrational are always frightening because their actions are unpredictable
I like how he subtly reduces the responsibility of Republicans who vote for the "blank check," implying that its democrats who want the blank check but republicans a just reluctantly going along.
This is going to be so much fun.

'Ted Cruz: ‘I Don’t Trust The Republicans’
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Wednesday defended his objection to initiating House-Senate budget negotiations unless Democrats take a debt limit increase off the table, saying he doesn't trust his party to hold the line.
"The senior senator from Arizona urged this body to trust the Republicans. Let me be clear, I don't trust the Republicans," Cruz said. "And I don't trust the Democrats."
On Tuesday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) scolded Republicans for blocking negotiations. He was backed by Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME).
"Unfortunately," Cruz said, "one of the reasons we got into this mess is because a lot of Republicans were complicit in this spending spree and that's why so many Americans are disgusted with both sides of this house. ... And every Republican who stands against holding the line here is really saying, let's give the Democrats a blank check to borrow any money they want with no reforms, no leadership to fix the problem."
