Maria Pantalone, 49, a sister of Toronto's deputy mayor, was granted an absolute discharge on assault charges Monday after a judge said she "had already suffered enough," according to court documents.
In his ruling, the judge said Pantalone was "publicly embarrassed, if not humiliated. She has suffered more than most."
The teacher is the victim!
Am I the only one curious as to the source of the feces? I mean, how did the feces happen to be in the vicinity and convenient for the teacher to throw? Is that too much information? If the student had, for instance, placed the feces on the teacher's desk, wouldn't that make her actions still unacceptable, but more understandable at least?

Excellent, excellent point. I am guessing it was something of that nature.
I had a group of kids in my neighborhood harass me. They threw bags of feces at my house. They kicked in my fence another time. They did some other stuff. I was at my wits' end because I couldn't stand leaving my house empty during the day.
The good news is that I banned one of the kids from the neighborhood (we live in a private community). He trespassed afterwards, I got him arrested, and he had to show up in court. It was beautiful. Don't mess with aps.
OMG aps what the hell are you doing to the neighborhood kids that caused them to throw $hit at your house???
Oh. You're that lady.I banned skateboarding from the neighborhood. They were disrupting the entire neighborhood at all hours and vandalizing mailboxes and other areas on the property. They were out of control. These kids had no discipline at home.

That is a fine question. And how did the rowdy bunch destroy that much private property?Under what authority can you ban skateboarding from an entire neighborhood?

Our city has a public skate park with the works.
Then the path is not public property and the municipal charge is trespassing. We are a private association run by a Board of Directors. I am on the Board of Directors (there are 3 of us) and we voted unanimously to ban it.
We have a public path that goes under a tunnel....

We have a public path that goes under a tunnel. They put graffiti all over the tunnel and broke the lights. We repainted the tunnel and replaced the lights. They put graffiti all over the tunnel again and broke the lights again. They defaced several mailboxes (we have group mailboxes). All of their graffiti had racial slurs. This path runs through the woods. They spray painted the trees with words like "N igger." They put Nazi signs on specific mailboxes of those homeowners who aren't American.
Sorry, but this kind of behavior is unacceptable. Nothing like that happened in my neighborhood growing up. It is so much quieter now--I love it.
There are skate parks that these kids could go to, but they didn't seem to want to take the extra effort to get there.
So why didn't you ban graffiti & vandelism? What's up with banning skateboards?
When I was kid we lived in a neighborhood association where they banned playing in alley ways! Mostly it was a bunch of grumpy old people that couldn't bear the sound of children playing. Bunch of a$$holes if you ask me.
The neighborhood where I live now took care of the children playing problem by building a whole neighborhood with no sidewalks! Bunch of a$$holes. Now the wee ones can't play out front unless you're okay with sending them out to play in the street!
Okay, let's not get off topic.
Trust me, the police were heavily involved and we did start a neighborhood watch. We banned skateboarding as a last resort--when nothing else was working and when the police recommended that we ban it. It would be one thing if we were dealing with responsible, considerate kids. When I was growing up, we skateboarded in our neighborhood, but we were also very considerate. We weren't going on people's driveways and skateboarding at 11pm at night making all sorts of noises. You all seem to think that it's the neighbors's fault when I think it's the parents' fault (the parents of these kids). My parents would never have allowed me to behave the way these kids were behaving. I stand by my decision, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. You don't like the rules of the neighborhood? MOVE.
That's what my parents eventually did! And because of their experience in living in a house that comes with a "homeowners association" I would never buy a house where I was forced to obey neighborhood regulations. I remember my parents getting a letter saying the tree in our front yard had gotten too big and had to be taken down. It wasn't that big at all and my parents ignored the letters. Well one day we came home and the tree was freaking gone! The home owners association had it removed! We moved shortly thereafter. :doh Never was much of a fan of those cookie cutter, every third house matches, type neighborhoods anyway. I mean they use to hassle my folks for not getting their trashcan off the streets by a certain time of day! Crazy crazy stuff if you ask me.
No skateboarding is like hanging a sign that says "We hate kids. Now Get!":rofl
Well, to each his/her own. I like the neighborhoods that come with rules. People who leave their trash cans out all the time make me sick, as do inconsiderate, irresponsible kids/adults. My neighborhood growing up did not have these rules, but yet somehow my parents were able to teach us all (I have 3 other siblings) good manners. Go figure.

there's simply no excuse for allowing someone to keep their job after an incident like that.
