Teacher departures leave schools scrambling for substitutes

Just what America needs

The poorly educated educating the next generation.

When Asian students are doing math in grade 6 that US students do in high school. The future is looking great for the US.

Why all those engineering and technical positions will be filled by people who can barely do division

Some of these people should engage students from foreign lands... they will find that many people from good educational programs have a far broader vocabulary than what is common in America, and they are quite concise in how they communicate.

America needs to learn from places around the world, and get off the delusion of being superior...

China found out a decade ago, that Rote Memorization and Test Scores did not translate into progressive critical thinking, and Test Score did not translate into higher productivity, so they made the modification in their systems to change.

If one looks at Japan, they will find people who are very innovative.... How Japan Is Embracing Innovation Of Today[/URL]
How inventions synonymous with contemporary Japan–from robots and fuel-efficient cars to manga and Walkmen–drew inspiration from ancient Japan.

Singapore and Green Tech...

Teaching Will Improve, because Techniques is improving. The kids today, digest information in ways the old system is actually to slow for them.
Also with improving the economics of families and the improvements in using technology will usher in good advances in educations. Already, kids today are far more informed than were kids in the 1950's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's... they comprehend the world around them and they know how to use technology better than many older adults.

The last thing society needs is more "regressive" and "attack something mentality" of Republicanism.

They are essential workers. They either need to show up for duty or find another line of work. Those are the choices every other essential worker has faced for months.

Oh well. Then they need to find another line of work.

So much stupidity in one post...

Are you saying that they should be brave and face a virus that is so dangerous that it might kill them?

It is after all, no more dangerous than the flu and only the elderly should shelter in place.

Gotcha.

What I am saying is exactly what I wrote. Tens of millions of Americans held 'essential' employment throughout this entire pandemic and they came to work. Teachers are essential employees and now its their turn to do what the rest of us have been doing for months. Those that are too cowardly to do so shouldnt be teaching our children anyway.
Do you understand what I am saying now or do I need to type it out a third time?

Sounds like it won't be long before districts are combing the rolls of sex offenders to find substitutes to fill in for teachers going AWOL. Good luck to school districts. They'll need it.

Teachers don't make enough money to take the risk

I think it is a stupid idea to open schools until we have a vaccine

It will end badly

Damned if you do and damned if you don't: parents, especially single parent households have a choice 1. send their kids back to school so they are able to return to work to earn money to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads, but risk having the kids get infected or 2. keep them at home and home-school them, but lose their jobs and income and a place to live. Don't look for Mitch to pass any relief bill anytime soon.

What's a mother to do?

Let's just hope that the next batch aren't as radical leftists as the ones that are leaving.

The leftist / progressive / liberal indoctrination which has become the US education system is doing the nation no favors, as we can see in the nightly news coverage of the riots.

Nice speech, but I don't know of any other profession where an employee is stuck inside a poorly-ventilated or no-ventilated 20x20 classroom for 6 hours per day with roughly 30 kids per class where 50% of them are probably yelling, screaming, coughing, sneezing little COVID vectors. Sounds like a suicide mission to me.

Examples of this "indoctrination"? I wonder if you attack home-schoolers in the same way; parents indoctrinating impressionable kids into believing religious nonsense before they are mature enough to decide for themselves what, if anything, to have faith in.

Thats because you dont have a clue as to the science behind this virus. Could be you are just a product of these same cowardly teachers.

who are you to call someone coward, while you sit behind your computer spewing your delusional "superman fiction".... another regiment member of Confederacy, willing to push others to risk and dangers, while sitting back.. doing NOTHING...

What you think you are saying may not be what we thought you meant when you thought you were saying something else.

After months of the virus not being deadly, you now expect teachers to risk their lives for your gratification is what it appears you meant.

You dont know anything about me. In fact, you dont know wtf you are talking about, but that is when liberals are at their most arrogant isnt it.

Try and let this sink in: Essential workers have been on the job throughout this entire pandemic. Teachers are essential workers who have not. Time for them to get to work. There is no way I can make that any simpler. If you dont get it, you dont get it.

And many of those essential workers caught the virus and more than a few have died. That said the teachers do not need to be in a school to teach and neither do the children need to be there to learn, so your argument is nonsense.

They can do their job from home. Those they service, children, can learn from home. Any essential services that could still be done from home, are.

How do they feel about the flu? The stats say anywhere up to 80,000 people a year die from it. Are they an exception from being one of them?
80k dying from flu is an extremely bad year. And they and their charges can get flu shots to greatly reduce their risk.

Vaccine Effectiveness: How Well Do the Flu Vaccines Work? | CDC

Willing to bet that most of those that die from the flu did not get vaccinated or couldn't.

We dont have a vaccination yet for this. And coronavirus is far more contagious and deadly than the flu.

How many of our teachers are over 65?

Very few teachers die from the flu (I found one in 2020 and 1 in 2018). 6 have already died in just over 1 month from covid19. We aren't even into the worst season for illness. And we have many school systems throughout the country that haven't gone back to full classroom learning. So with precautions in place in a pretty significant portion of the country we have still had 6 deaths of teachers due to this. Without precautions, we see about one teacher death per year from flu and we dont know if those teachers got the flu shot or took antivirals.

I've been on the job, as has my husband and MIL throughout this entire pandemic from home. We all had offices to go into prior to the start of the pandemic (granted, my husband's company gave up their lease and are looking for something else right now). I'm an essential worker working from home.

Not all those essential workers have to work from somewhere outside their home.

If you are soliciting,... the answer is "NO"!!!
I'm not in pursuit to know any more about you than what I've already seen and its not of the character that I care to build any bonds with.

I get it. You don't care if they die. Was that pretty much it?
