Maybe I'm just worrying too much, but I am afraid you are right. Although I don't think this is an "Obama vs. Republicans" thing. Bush started this policy with full force, and Obama just continues it. Blueprint is the "Project for a New American Century".
Here some info, for anybody who's interested:

Bush didn't start anything. This was started by the mad-men of the world that insist on forcing America's had at every turn. Obama was nowhere close to being qualified to handle these kinds of situations. If he really cared about the country, he would resign. At this point, even Biden is more qualified to handle a hot situation such as this. The advantage Biden has over the bad guys, is that they think he's actually stupid enough to do something crazy.
Glad you put that up. Hopefully people will look at it.

Well they already have up the map the US has identified with Assads Chemical factories and Assets. Where they are strategically looking to now help the Rebels.

Which btw way Assad has moved things into Civilian neighborhoods.
I hear he's been accused of that.
Sounds like its validated and confirmed by the Press and of course an Unnamed official who wasn't authorized to speak.
I find it hard to know whom to believe and whom not, in this. As they say: "In war, truth dies first".
What's known to some extent, though, are the interests and objectives of the players.
Yeah I know how you feel German Guy.....myself I haven't been going with just one or two sides of the story.

Syria is said to be hiding weapons, moving troops
The main Western-backed opposition group says that during the buildup last week to what seemed like an imminent U.S. attack, the army moved troops as well as rocket launchers, artillery and other heavy weapons into residential neighborhoods in cities nationwide. Three Damascus residents, speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, confirmed such movements.
A U.S. official confirmed there are indications that the Syrian regime is taking steps to move some of its military equipment and bolster protection for defense facilities.
The official, who was not authorized to discuss intelligence matters and spoke on condition of anonymity, said that at this point, the U.S. has the information it needs to maintain a good handle on what the regime is doing to prepare.....snip~

A lot of anonymity in their but I wouldn't doubt it. Thing is the US already said they wouldn't attack the chemical supplies anyway for obvious reasons.
Heya DV. :2wave: Well the UN has come out now saying that military action over this issue would only be in defense, and thinks this can lead to more conflict outside Syria. So the Pope is in accordance with them as well.
Your the dude that needs to look at the link that German put up.
Well its us doing the talking.....so we tend to change things up and do what we said we wouldn't do.....then afterwards. We will say we misspoke.
Either way its not like the Pope was going to advocate war.
Although with the Pope and Ban Ki and the UN saying what they are. One thing is for certain. The Neo Cons and Neo libs aint liking it.
Bush rejected Putin's open arms after 9/11 and the US repeatedly kicked in his face (Iraq 2003, Ukraine 2004, Georgia 2008, Libya 2011), since Bush followed Billy Kristol's strategic musings about rolling back Russia and destroying it on the long run. Obama has obviously just continued that policy.
That doesn't mean Putin is a nice guy, or a better guy. The Russians have their weird geotrategic paranoia too and aren't over the loss of the USSR yet.
But this confrontation over Syria is just the next logical step in a long line of events Bush started after 9/11, mentored by his PNAC advisors.
IOW, you want me to play into the conspiracy theories? Thanks, but I'll stick to reality.

Wow, PNAC is a conspiracy? I suppose its also a conspiracy that while he was yet governor of Texas Bush said that when he's president, if he gets the chance to go into Iraq, he won't screw up like his dad did, he'll go all the way to Baghdad and take Saddam Hussein out?
Link? Thanks!
Well German gave you the PNAC link and here's the other.
In 1999, Mickey Herskowitz is hired to ghostwrite a campaign autobiography for George W. Bush, an assignment that was later withdrawn. Herskowitz later spoke about Bush for an article by journalist Russ Baker: “He was thinking about invading Iraq in 1999... It was on his mind. He said to me: ‘One of the keys to being seen as a great leader is to be seen as a commander-in-chief.’ ”
"According to Herskowitz, Bush’s beliefs on Iraq were based in part on a notion dating back to the Reagan White House – ascribed in part to now-vice president Dick Cheney, Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee under Reagan. “Start a small war. Pick a country where there is justification you can jump on, go ahead and invade.”
"Bush’s circle of pre-election advisers had a fixation on the political capital that British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher collected from the Falklands War. Said Herskowitz: “They were just absolutely blown away, just enthralled by the scenes of the troops coming back, of the boats, people throwing flowers at [Thatcher] and her getting these standing ovations in Parliament and making these magnificent speeches.” (Guerrilla News Network)

Good evening, MMC. :2wave:
I was once told to believe nothing I hear, and only half of what I see. Well, using that as a yardstick, I'm having a difficult time reconciling two sides of the same problem. If this story from the AP is correct that the Assad regime is moving troops and military equipment into residential neighborhoods, that sounds to me that just the threat that we might follow through seemed to work. On the other hand, there are the rebels who might actually relish the chaos that would follow. Not that they would openly show what actions they are taking in this interim period. Oh no. They would be secretly doing the exact same thing. So I guess my point is why should I believe that only the regime is doing what they must to survive? Even if we are not respected, as some state, we are still feared. Maybe that is the best we can hope for.
