Syria currently held "elections" for their parliament, the "People's Assembly". Recently the results were read and according to the official results the ruling party, the Ba'ath Party, and their front National Progressive Front won. Also its interesting to note that two Armenians were elected and it was the first time ever that an Armenian woman was elected to the People's Assembly.

The voter turnout was only 57% because most of the Syrian voters are in Europe.

Thank you for putting the word "elections" and "Peoples Assembly" in quotation marks. It's very apt.

Surprise surprise the Baathists won.

And it should have happened. The Syrian people have stated their position. They chose an independent government, but not pro-American opposition.

Do you honestly think people living in a wartime dicatatorship actually had a choice?

The option was "vote for the government or select which ear you'd like to be shot behind"

Unsurprisingly, people voted for the government
