Susan Rice is Bad News for Africa
Susan Rice is Bad News for Africa | Black Agenda Report
Rice is a proponent of so-called "humanitarian military intervention" - but supports a U.S. Somalia policy that created "Africa's worst humanitarian crisis," according to the United Nations.
There is every reason to believe she will counsel the next president to continue George Bush's policies in the Horn of Africa. In January, 2007, while Ethiopian troops attempted to crush Islamists who had brought a brief period of relative peace and stability to Somalia, and U.S. air and sea forces pounded the countryside with missiles and bombs, Rice revealed herself to be an apostle of George Bush's War on Somalia (and the so-called War on Terror in general). Rice told the PBS News Hour that U.S. collaboration with the Ethiopian invaders was justified by what she called America's "counterterrorism imperatives," which she said "really are real in the context of Somalia." In Rice's words, "We have to go after the terrorist cells where we find them."
On Darfur, Rice is more bellicose than Bush."
The "humanitarian" component of Susan Rice's militarism is quite selective.
She has long been a super-hawk on punishing Sudan for its behavior in Darfur. Back in October, 2006, Rice declared, "It's time to get tough" with the government in Khartoum." In a Washington Post column, she advised the Bush regime to give Sudan "an ultimatum: accept unconditional deployment of the U.N. force within one week or face military consequences."
On Darfur, Rice is more bellicose than Bush. She sees no contradiction in calling for military action against Sudan, supposedly to end a "humanitarian crisis" in Darfur, while simultaneously backing a savage U.S.-Ethiopian assault that causes an even larger humanitarian calamity in Somalia. Rice claims to seek safety for civilians in Darfur, while supporting a total absence of security for Somali civilians. Darfur is a military/political convenience for "real-politic" operatives like Susan Rice. As Bruce Dixon wrote in his November 2007 BAR article, "If stopping genocide in Africa really was on the agenda, why the focus on Sudan with 200,000 to 400,000 dead rather than Congo with five million dead?" (See "Ten Reasons Why ‘Save Darfur' is a PR Scam to Justify the Next US Oil and Resource Wars in Africa.")
Rice's behavior in Africa has always been morally inconsistent. She was a member of Bill Clinton's National Security Council during the 1994 Rwandan genocide against the Tutsi minority. Later, she "swore" she would go "down in flames" if necessary to prevent future genocides. But after her promotion to Assistant Secretary of State for Africa, she failed to publicly advocate action against U.S. allies Uganda and by then Tutsi-ruled Rwanda - the main perpetrators in an ongoing war that his killed millions.
Rice embraces a policy that causes mass death and starvation in Somalia and ongoing genocide in Congo.....snip~

Indeed there is so much out there that NeverGetsRight Just can't seem to find anything.....huh?
No Sir, what i want is for MMC to do more than rant, I went and checked the 'russian complaint' and found it to be her being aggressive, something the Right LOVED about Bolton. We need strong leadership but not to be a bully, yet Rice being strong is now a bad thing according to MMC, pick one! France is an ally until she disagrees with us then our leadership mocks her with surrender jokes, freedom fries, reminders of WWII, and the wine boycott. (Did you not pay attention during BushII's Gulf War II?) Again it is MMC who is calling Russia an ally, while many other right wingers constantly attack Putin and Russia as 'threatening' us, with subs in the Gulf of Mexico and supporting Syria, attacking the former republic of Georgia.... some on the right wing flip flop so much they clack as they walk.
Again MMC makes some vague claim the Muslims are complaining about Rice and THIS complaint is somehow one we should suddenly listen to after years of let those bastards figure it out for themselves.
It is flip flopping to support a hate that defies logic.
Again she holds a position the Right Wing Radical should LOVE on the Sudan and instead some resort to quoting left leaning websites and THEIR concerns- that would be like me attacking a GOP leader for supporting increasing taxes on the wealthy...

With all due respect, I think you are either misreading the posting of MMC, or misrepresenting it all together ideologically.
While strong leadership is preferable, the administrations message to date is one of weakness. Remember the old speech where Obama said that "we are exceptional only in the same way that England, Egypt, or Greece thinks themselves exceptional"? This was a clarion call at the beginning of Obama's term laying out that the US would no longer take the lead. In this world it is a dangerous world view.
Look, we already see the effects of this type of "leadership" of lack of, in the terms of what Syria has become. Russia, and Iran are openly bolstering the Assad regime, aiding in the death of tens of thousands, while "red lines" are only a pre cursor to an academic study on the violation, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Syrians caught in the middle, to countries that can NOT handle the influx, and may cause their own downfall.
Like it or not Obama, and Rice set this in motion with their apology tours, and appeasement of radical forces here and abroad, while with the other hand shuttling arms from Lybia to Syria that I think resulted in the death of an ambassador, and three patriotic Americans in Libya, with NO attempt to even try and save them, while they wrung their collective hands and sought to make up a phony story to cover their own ass, and apologize once again for feigned outrage that plays into political propaganda of our enemies in that region.
Now, we are going to have a true radical leftist in that seat of the collection of Star Wars bar room scene rejects known as the feckless UN. Great! Powers is hostile to our only true ally in the region, Israel, while espousing that we send a military force to protect the Palestinians, I suppose as they lob indiscriminate missiles into Israeli elementary schools. New Town was an unbearable massacre, so much so that we must, just must do away with the 2nd amendment, but this sort of crap is justified? Why? Because a peoples right to exist is somehow unjust to the liars, and thieves of the UN collection of propaganda peddlers that all carry an agenda against such a small, persecuted people?
It's all just such crap.
I never said Russia Was an Ally....that is just another of your usual Misinterpretations or that Stupid **** of trying to think for me. Which really that is your Biggest mistake. Which you could never know what I was thinking. But don't worry One day you will finally figure that Stupid **** out. Now for your Usual Confusion. I stated Lavrov Mocked Rice on the Security Council. Course then Churkin jumped in. But that still doesn't Count other Western nations that were complaining about Rice. Diplomats on the 15-nation U.N. Security Council privately complain of Rice's aggressive negotiating tactics, describing her with terms like "undiplomatic" and "sometimes rather rude." They attributed some blunt language to Rice - "this is crap," "let's kill this" or "this is bull****." "She's got a sort of a cowboy-ish attitude," one Western diplomat said. "She has a tendency to treat other countries as mere (U.S.) subsidiaries." Two other diplomats - all three were male - supported this view.....snip~Susan Rice battles critics as abrasive style takes toll - Chicago Tribune Oooops.....Some more of what ya thought you knew about. Damn Wrong Again as your SCN so aptly points out. Course Rice has never been strong with anything I said. So there goes once again some more BS about you trying to think for me. I mean How many times do I have to prove you wrong. Just like I already did. Usually you run off once ya get shown that you as usual don't know what you are talking about. Might want to grap your RUNNING Shoes. That which you know so well.

What you do is blur your comments into one hot mess and then twist and shout your way out of it. You say lavov mocked Rice, I can't find any mocking, the Russians want to water down the UN resolution on Syria but mocking??? You try to include Russia as an ally in broad statements, then turn and deny it. I can't find any references to 'private' complaints other than your one source on the one topic. but please keep trying, you have made partisan attacks your forte.
But what amazes me is you are attacking Rice for the EXACT thing that was Bolton's strong suit. It seems you don't have any real philosophy other than intense attack on the dems. The last administration took pride in being called cowboys and now you use the exact same term to attack Rice.
You attack Rice for following the SAME track our nation has for generations when it comes to Africa and ignore the many fine speeches made by right wing administrations that are just that. She does EXACTLY what the Right Wing did and the hyper partisans attack her for that.
You are not proving anything except you are highly partisan and the true partisan abandons any real logic to attack the opposition.
Again you flatter yourself and your abrasive style way too much, I don't run off, I get tired of reading the muck you fling and the complete lack of any logic behind it.
There is no discussing the issues with someone who makes Rice look sweet and charming...
No it has nothing to do with Blurring comments. It just has to do with you always bringing up what no one has said. Or when you go into that BS mode of trying to tell others what they are thinking. Such a shame that you cant deal with Obama being Damned if he does and damned if he don't. But it didn't bother you so much with your favorite Call Sign......Buuuuuuuuuuuuuush!
Wrong again.....your usual. I stated Rice was an incompetent fool and a Failure. Has nothing to do with Who she associates with. Just like you wrong about the Muslims and their Complaints about her. Like you were Wrong about other Western nations complaining about her and Just like you were wrong about the Russians and what they stated about her. As well as wrong about What people said about France. Then finally were wrong about saying other people were calling Russia an Ally.
So, No actually you do run off. Mostly due to being NotSoQuiteRight around here. Your Norm!
Said no one ever. You seem like an objective person.
Just as a side note, Women served strictly as housewives under Hitler's regime, their inclusion in politics was inconceivable.Hitler would be proud of you surrounding yourself with conmen/women propagandists, mister Odumba. A chip off the old fascist turd
On what basis would you make this claim? Applicable polling data specifically.Rice is a deliberately provocative choice.
I wonder if the President realizes that she's an insulting choice to those of us who are independents?

Doesn't say much in actuality. Carville was obviously referring to the republican leadership in the Senate and their vow to railroad the nomination of Rice for Secretary of State. The poster in question simply asserted that the thought of Rice in this position is an affront to independents in general, which is why I questioned the validity of that sentiment.Let's see what a fellow Democrat says about the appointment...
JAMES CARVILLE: "My guess is that he wanted her to be Secretary of State and he felt like she kind of got railroaded there and this is kind of in your face appointment, but he obviously thinks a great deal of Ambassador Rice. Like I say, he wanted her to be Secretary of State. She's not confirmable and it's like a message that he's going to stick by. He views her as a competent person and probably as a friend of his. You know, I think it's an in your face appointment and he feels good about making it."
Carville: Obama's Choice Of Susan Rice For National Security Adviser An "In Your Face Appointment" | RealClearPolitics
Fifty-six percent (56%) now consider the federal government a threat to individual rights rather than a protector of those rights. That’s up 10 points from 46% in December.

Optimally, yes. It would be preferable to simply claiming so on a hunch. You need a poll to see that appointing Rice to N.S.A is a middle finger to anyone that is watching?
LOL !!!
I guess your just not the type of individual who would have made the obvious connection between fully armed men with RPG and mortar capabillities and terrorist.
Nah they were " protesters ". LOL !!!
Wow.
And she was part of the administration and your saying SHE was that dumb, but deserves a promotion. Unbelievable.
It was obvious after the first news accounts of the attack that it wasn't a protest. If you missed that than that is the hard evidence for your support of Susan Rice and this administratiin.
Optimally, yes. It would be preferable to simply claiming so on a hunch.
