Supreme Court backs parents seeking to opt their kids out of LGBTQ books in elementary schools

Aren't all religions made up?

Sounds like we're opening a real can of worms here.

Any idea what their reasoning is - that this is against their religion?

That is incorrect. You do not have a First Amendment Right to force others to attend instruction that violates their beliefs but not yours.
What forcing? If you want your child to follow a religious guideline in education , take your child to a private religious school.
look your argument is against free speech. It’s like saying that we have to restrict television programming a the internet so that your children can search the internet and watch television without being offended.

That is literally the opposite of what's happening, and, it's frankly bizarre that this is the critique you've chosen. Acknowledging parents' and children's (including you, Muslims, Jews, and Christians) rights to not have the State push values on them by letting them opt out of particular instruction does not, in any way, impose religious instruction on your kids.
Sure it does. Because opting out will put a tremendous burden on schools to have to provide alternate classrooms and teachers and materials to accommodate all the religious proclivities .
Therefore schools will be forced to adopt a curriculum that is based solely on the desires of the religious children.

"Then go to a private secular school" would, I believe, be the appropriate application of your earlier response
Public schools are the secular schools you ridiculous dude !!! Lmao.

However, no - they aren't required to deny your children books or even avoid teaching them.
Sure they will be. The school cannot afford to have double or triple the staff and classrooms and teaching materials to accommodate your child and mine.
So it will be forced to abide by the religious beliefs of others .
They just can't force students who don't agree with those beliefs to be instructed in them against their will.
Again. You want a religion based curriculum , go to a religious based school. Public schools are BY LAW AND THE CONSTITUTION SECULAR INSTITUTIONS.
Given your earlier complaints, it seems that is what actually offends you, here. People with whom you agree have lost some of their power to make the next generation unlike their parents, with whom you disagree.
No. I don’t like religious groups to be able to force their religion based hate and bigotry into public schools .

That is incorrect. You do not have a First Amendment Right to force others to attend instruction that violates their beliefs but not yours.
Tell me, does a religious group have the right to tell a public library that they can’t have books about sex , or alcohol etc because their child might be offended? No? Why not? That’s what you are arguing. That society must conform to your version of society lest your child come in contact with things you don’t agree with. By extension , television programs must conform to your moral code lest your child see say a gay couple in a commercial , or Walmart can’t sell books with gay characters because your child might go pick it up , etc.

Right see above. So now your requirement is that Walmart has to have another Walmart, an “alternative” Walmart where you can shop without your kids can’t see books with gay characters in them . Perhaps Muslims don’t see pork etc.
A television station or radio station has to produce “ an alternative station” that produces only the content you find acceptable .
"Then go to a private secular school" would, I believe, be the appropriate application of your earlier response
Except public schools are secular by definition
They are not supposed to conform to religious beliefs.
However, no - they aren't required to deny your children books or even avoid teaching them. They just can't force students who don't agree with those beliefs to be instructed in them against their will. Given your earlier complaints, it seems that is what actually offends you, here. People with whom you agree have lost some of their power to make the next generation unlike their parents, with whom you disagree.
But you ARE forcing my children to abide by your beliefs.
You are basically requiring that my school district build an “ alternative” school so tgat your child can be taught according to your religious beliefs .

Let’s see how this decision works.
Tge teacher wants to read the book the “ Purim superhero”
If she does. The school has to provide an alternative classroom, another teacher and other teaching materials for those tgat opt out.
Then a teacher in history class is wants to teach the history of the Spanish Inquisition. And so tge school has to provide an alternative classroom for those students.
Oh wait until biology and evolution.
Teaching about dinosaurs?

And then. What happens when kids start opting out just “ saying” it is against their religion?
Does the school have to have a religious scholar for each denomination to determine if the opt out is legit or not?

This opt out is a logistical nightmare for schools and will result in the school being forced to teach based on a religious model.

Anyone aware of what religious belief is being violated by the reading of these books?
The bible of the religious conservatives includes enough rigid prohibitions, rules, commandments, actions that their God abominates that they can proclaim denial of religious freedom about almost every in public schools, starting with being in the same room with women and girls who are "unclean" and ending with almost everything in a social studies course.

These are people angry at public education and are now aching to use their hand picked goons on the Supreme Court. This is what theocracy looks like.
