I receive Medicare which is great however that still leaves 20% unpaid. I have had UnitedHealth for years and this year it went from $312 to $353 a month.
I also have the greatest ripoff known to man, President Bush's gift to big pharma.
That went up from two year ago by $100. Also UnitedHealth care.

This with no inflation or COLA of significance.

Guess who gets fat at our expense?
The non working investor class.

Guess who the American morons just put in the White House?

My parent has been on Medicare Advantage plans for the past ~15 years - always with $0 monthly premiums. On 10 medications. Various issues. Never paid more than $500 for the whole year for medical expenses, including all premiums, appointments, tests, drugs, etc. Some plans even pay you back (some years covering part B premiums, other times giving $100+ every quarter for misc expenses).

(Above includes all medical + drug costs. Largest expense was dental one year of few thousand.)

Correction: one year (about 5-8 years ago) there was an exception: there was an expensive drug costing ~$3000 for the year (thanks to Biden, would not be a problem any longer with $2k limit on all drugs per year). Next year, had switched to a different plan that covered a similar drug at reasonable price.

be careful with advantage. You can be denied with big claims. These plans are great until something big happens.

Guess what Musk/donold stripped from the spending bill they wrote. Language restricting Pharmacy Benefit Managers (one of the drivers of ever increasing drug costs).

Wasn't it cute the way his supporters thought Musk/donold were going to decrease costs for them?

Why don't they have to pay for Medicare Advantage?

Advantage plans are notorious top offs.

I would never advise anyone to get one.

To be fair, almost all the increasing healthcare costs are really due to ever-advancing technology: a lot of new medications/surgical procedures/imaging technology, etc.... The medicine being practiced today is so far more advanced and refined than even 10 years ago.

Society's tacit expectation of the healthcare system is immortality in perfect health. And that can be expensive. But until we reach that, either healthcare costs are going to keep going up, or society cries uncle and says they don't want any more advancements in health tech/science.

Yes, all those leukemia, brain cancer, lupus, and Parkinson's patients just need to pick themselves up by the bootstraps, lose some weight, and stop being so sick. It makes Donald look bad. MAGA.

Let me see if I have this right, no one should take personal responsibility of the areas of health they can control because some people get brain cancer or Parkinson's no matter how they live life? The things I mention have to do with the disease that is the leading cause of death in the US and the world...heart disease.

No, you implied that the entire cause of any health problems in seniors was due to poor choices.

Then you got all passive-aggressive about it.

Yes, our healthcare policy should be centered around heart disease. Everything else is just a negligible part of medicine and MSM fake news. I don't even know why medical training takes so long. It's just one disease they have to learn.

Your way of thinking and personal animus led you to believe I implied that. I have a daughter born with serious health issues so I'm well aware its not all personal choices. I'm also aware that some choices on the average will lead to better health and longevity. You don't actually dispute that point do you? However as the great Jim Morrison once said, "No one here gets out alive'.

No, you post led me to believe that you implied that.

There's that passive-aggressive thing again.

Then why did you say such an ignorant, insulting thing to the OP?

Shouldn't the concern with health begin with the worst problem and one that can be significantly mitigated by personal effort? Or are you championing the right for people to pack on the pounds, drink alcohol to excess and avoid exercise?

I didn't say anything about other diseases.
