I have ownership (or should) over my body. If I desire to take my own life, that is my business. Now yeah, it will have detrimental effects upon any family or friends related to me, but that is my business. Not the business of law as far as I am concerned.Simple question.
If someone wishes to end their life voluntarily, should they be allowed to do it?
Currently suicide is outlawed in most countries so that survivors are forced to seek assistance and/or institutionalization. Is this a just law?
On another issue related, I don't view suicide as selfish either. Unless you're doing it to avoid being charged with criminality or something, most suicide is due to a depression or illness of some sort. To actually take your own life, you have to be facing some terrible demons (and I don't mean the angels and demons variety, figuratively speaking). And although we like to think we can all be strong and so forth, not everyone is unfortunately. I'm empathetic towards their plight.
