Apart from the name, it's important what it does. This bill takes away from the have-nots and gives to the ultra-haves. It slashes Medicaid, taking health care away from millions. It slashes food stamps, ensuring that many will go hungry. At the same time it gives huge tax cuts to the wealthy. How much?

The Congressional Budget Office’s numbers, released yesterday, are startling. Here’s the percentage change in households’ purchasing power by decile of the income distribution caused by the OBBBA:



The poorest Americans lose 4% purchasing power. It get's worse. Combined with the effect of tariffs, the poorest lose 6%.



After all that pain borne upon the poor, it still increases the deficit because it transfers what it takes from the poor to the uber-wealthy.
