We could ask our leadership in Washington to give up the the most secure IT infrastructure on the planet

Ok, let's deal with THIS topic (as opposed to talking about Trump's agenda aka Mycroft style).

No one I know is happy with paper straws. Especially when they come with plastic cups (as in the case of iced capp).

Yet, to make this a political issue is just a big fat joke. But this is the way it has become with Righties. Conservatives used to be all about getting government OUT OF private business. If you don't like paper straws don't frequent the establishment. Simple as that. BUT NO, now because Trump is against paper straws, Righties are acting like the people they used to criticize and they WANT government to interfere with how a private business is run.

I don’t get it. I can see why some might prefer plastic straws for milkshakes, but back in my day we sucked it up using paper straws… and well, were able to suck it up. And at times we even enjoyed drinks without straws! Imagine that!

I get your point about plastic. Hard to poke through plastic lids with paper straws.

But look at the language in the memo from the administration. The US Department of Justice is assigned to monitor and eliminate any policy or guidance that would “disfavor plastic straws.” A grown up person working for our government, one presumably trusted to go to the bathroom by him/herself, wrote that. It could be part of a satirical piece on a speech by Joe McCarthy, no doubt titled “This is the Last Straw from the Communists.” (Apologies.)
