C'mon people, it's getting ridiculous at this stage. The Trump admin is now expanding steel and aluminum tariffs to several products that contain these metals, or use them for packaging.

So what this means is that if a product is in a steel or aluminum can, is packaged in aluminum foil or similar, or has parts with steel and aluminum, they could be subject to the 50% tariffs based on the content of the metals.

This is going to be a nightmare of epic proportions to try to levy tariffs on billions of products that use some level of steel or aluminum in their manufacturing or packaging.

Just more evidence that this is all a way to bring in more tax dollars off the backs of lower income individuals. This will also cost billions of dollars to implement due to the complexities involved.

'Nightmare' doesn't even begin to describe this mess.

Sophisticated auto assemblies can cross the US-Canada border as many as six times as components are added. Now someone has to calculate what was added and where.

It's also worth noting that the US doesn't have the mining or production capacity to replace all imported metals so American companies have no choice but to pass on the tariffs costs.

This is nuts.

So John Deere can just pay more for steel and aluminium than Kubota does and suck it up, raising the price of their equipment that they export, or they can increase production in their offshore facilities so they can compete around the world.
Either way, what they sell in the USA has to go up in price.

Hang onto your butts, folks. More inflation coming at us courtesy of Donald "Master Negotiator" Trump.

Enjoy paying your regressive Republican consumer taxes.
