[W:542] Star Harvard business professor stripped of tenure, fired for manipulating data in studies on dishonesty

"In 2023, Harvard launched an internal investigation into Gino’s work after concerns were raised on a blog called Data Colada, run by a group of behavioral scientists who scrutinize academic research. The Harvard investigation concluded that Gino had manipulated certain data to support her hypotheses in at least four of her studies. At that point, the university placed her on unpaid administrative leave."

Sounds like responsible actions were taken by serious professionals.

Imagine if the right-wing media operated like that!!!!! Game changer!!!!!

….I’ll be darned. I see you are struggling with actual subject of this thread. ;)
When they see a thread where they dont like the subject or they dont want discussed they, like clockwork, go straight to deflection.

Yes, “then.” It’s taken Harvard 4 years to do something about it.
According to the reporting they jumped on it pretty much immediately. So, gosh, now you're going to have to reevaluate your opinion on this. Won't you?

(I'm guessing not)

There are a few key points.

1) Something is very broken in academia when someone lauded as one of the nation’s top researchers can commit data fraud and publish fraudulent studies in scientific journals without anyone saying boo for over 10 years.

2) There are an awful lot of people howling at cutting Harvard’s federal research grants. Then we find out one of their most respected researchers is a fraud.
3) The individual was discovered and punished by academia.

So youre taking Harvard's side here?

The professor denies she committed fraud.

MAGA here is pretty quick to accept Harvard's accusation. Of course, they have to in order to damn them.

Oh the ethical compromises of MAGA. ;)
You should quit while you are behind. You've tried about 10 different variations of covering for the liars but they all fell flat.

Like when Trump's non-stop, naked corruption is pointed out, you mean? Or Trump stealing classified docs from the White House and then lying about it?

So what is the actual “coincidence”? You made the claim. Did you actually read the article. This was the actual school the revoked her tenure???
Yes - according to the article, the school's top governing board conducted the investigation and applied corrective measures.

Who are "the liars," exactly?

Thanks for reinforcing my point.

Let's not pretend that's not MAGA SOP.

That said - without any deflection to Dear Leader - the school's governing board investigated this indivudual and punished her. That's a good thing, we can all agree. Right?

Your post reminds me of crap like this:

Woman using computer, internet, and wild amounts of lab tested hair products rejects the cult of science and elevates "flat earther" to the same level as believing the earth is a geoid.

More idiocy at 11.

😁

MAGA in a nutshell. Meanwhile, NOLA's search for truth carries on!

No. A blog of anonymous behavioral scientists started scrutinizing her published studies in 2023. Harvard launched their investigation the same year. The earliest of the studies they scrutinized dated to 2012. She had been committing data fraud for over 10 years and was only fired for it over the weekend after a two-year investigation.

That is precisely what is happening here.

You support Harvard's decision to strip this woman of her tenure even though she denies the charge so you can damn them for doing it so late.

You're siding with the experts in your attack on expertise.

Is it possible no one knew of the alleged fraud prior to that?

Possible?

If that is the case then something is rotten in the State of Denmark. This should have been detected before publication as part of the peer review process and Harvard should have taken immediate action when it was detected. That it wasn’t spells disaster for the credibility of those journals and for Harvard.

A renowned Harvard University professor was stripped of her tenure and fired after an investigation found she fabricated data on multiple studies focused on dishonesty.

Francesca Gino, a celebrated behavioral scientist at Harvard Business School, was let go after the school’s top governing board determined she tweaked observations in four studies so that their findings boosted her hypotheses, GHB reported.

Harvard administrators notified business faculty that Gino was out of a job in a closed-door meeting this past week, the outlet reported.

We are supposed to trust the "experts" right? It reminded me of this:

Looking for any little scrap to discredit our universities and science, huh?

Meanwhile, have you found Obama's secret Kenyan birth certificate? I hear you're not going to believe what Trump's top people are finding on it.

You do realize that Harvard is the one whom revoked her tenure.

Wait, how did she make it through the peer review process? 😒
