US should have elected Gore and gone with the "lockbox."

SS would be solvent and today we would all be flying in electric cars like the Jetsons. Instead, we elected a backwards Christian from Texas.
 
Those greedy old Americans have NO right to take social services money that should go to illegal migrants. As long as the USA keeps providing for non-Americans everything is A-OK. Those old people deserve to suffer according to the Democratic Party, that REALLY just wants old Americans to die off anyway to make more room for young, uneducated non-citizen Latinos.

Well, people need to stop viewing Social Security as an entitlement. It was originally designed to keep the elderly out of the workhouses and it was sustainable because the age of collection meant that many if not most of the people who contributed died long before they could collect. It was never intended to be a system people depended on for another 10-20 years of income.

Illegal immigrants suck tens of billions of dollars (actually hundreds) from taxing authorities - local, school districts, state and federal.

At the time of social security, the average life span was age 67. That meant, on average, 2 years of social security and ONLY for the elderly. Now social security covers millions of people on disability (many if not most working cash jobs on the side), surviving spouses and surviving children. MILLIONS and MILLIONS of people draw social security "free money" that social security was never intended for - and people live 500% longer. Nor was the money saved for social security, but spent.

The Social Security system is broke NOW - not years from now. It is a false accounting game in which the government counts IOUs from the treasury as assets, when in fact it is $0 because it all is debt spending. Since there is interest on the debt, actually how much social security has is less than $0. Only the federal government can write itself IOUs, pay interest on the IOUs, and counts the IOUs as an asset rather than a debt. Wouldn't it be nice if we all could do that? Buy everything with IOUs we never, ever, ever have to pay back - and then more IOUs plus IOUs for the interest too.

Worth noting - it was also designed as the foolproof pyramid scheme because EVERYONE KNOWS that we will all have 4 children per couple.

I also will admit to finding it darkly ironic that, had we not killed off 40 million potential workers, Social Security would probably be in much greater shape.

Meaning we need to bring back the workhouses? We need to end the "cap" on SS withholding and means test benefits. SS should not go to those that don't need it.

Excess SS withholding is placed in t-bills so it earns interest. It makes no sense to do otherwise.

LBJ was one of THE worst presidents this country every had. He deliberately did all he can to turn black communities into broken family communities of generational welfare careers domestically - literally paying women bonuses to be impoverished single parents, while getting us into Vietnam massively - after his outright lie promising that he wouldn't. If any president should have been impeached and removed it was LBJ.
