I am not sure how many of our resident Righties were parents, or how their kids (if they had any) turned out. But I would be very very frightened for any kids growing up in a household with the kinds of discipline being suggested by some on this topic.Sadistic.
yep; i now wish mom would have given me more Whippings and a lot more Love.
the Liberals, and commies have no clue why i would write this, but it is true. i hated sitting in a corner, let's get the discipline over with and the belt was easy peasy to me. as a kid i had things to do, sitting in a corner was not one of them.
blessings.
View attachment 67573293....this kinda says it all. all new parents should get a few of these when leaving the hospital after the new born birth.

Sick.
Reading these posts, one really begins to understand much of the pathology underlying the dysfunction in this country.Sick.
Yours are. I taught elementary ed for 20+ years and never once thought to physically discipline a student. I think your religious beliefs made you sick, perhaps you really work for Satan?how so?
some comments truly are Wacked out.
So, you still can't deal with the topic. Now you are attacking DP?
Let me ask you again...............
Are you saying you are anti-vaccine?
Um, modern science?

I can't remember any time that my three year old was in a position to run into the street. At that age he was never outside unsupervised and had also learned that he could only go in the street holding an adult's hand. I guess a child might run into the street to chase a ball, but I think that would be on the parent to not allow such activity near a street.Because kids don't always listen and then can't always intellectualize what you're trying to say to them.
Is it better to give your 3 year old a spanking after telling them multiple times not to run into the street with no success, or is it better that they be hit by a car?

I had a dog that occasionally would run into the street to chase cars. I doubt that spanking her would have changed that behavior.
Lord have mercy. You STILL couldn't answer the question. That's ok, not answering IS an answer. You ducked the point. We all understand why.
I’d be more willing to bet it’s a generational difference with Gen X being the change where you see older than Gen X more apt to turn towards spanking and hitting a child and Gen X and younger not using corporal punishment/spanking.If this poll were taken in the real world - not the radical left echo chamber of DP - the results would be vastly different. You DO grasp this, don't you?
Lol, beating a child is beating a child. People that do this should face jail.Demagogues calling spanking "beating a child" have no credibility.

Older Gen X leaning more in the spanking column and younger Gen X more in the not.
I never spanked my kids. I redirected them or put them in time out. Both were pleasers. My grandson has been in time out so many times he responds to a side eye, cries and sits on the time out step automatically by his own volition. He has an internal timer on how long to sit, gets up and gives us a hug. Time outs are now more infrequent.
Why do you call it spanking? It is child beating.Doesn't matter what I think or what the data shows about the effects of spanking, those who want to "control" their kids figure that spanking (and other forms of physical discipline) are required.
Because spanking is the topic. Doh.Why do you call it spanking? It is child beating.
If you did this to a fully grown adult would it be called spanking? **** no.
unlike some people responding here I had kids - no, spanking is very much neededOh wow, I never could have predicted THAT reply.
You DO know there are other ways of instilling discipline without physical force, right? Oh sorry, I should have realize the answer before I asked the question
Well well well, there we have it folks, it's not about discipline or good behavior at all, it is all about forcing them to do what you want and need them to do.
So, where is the limit if they don't like your forcing? If they rebel and tell you to F off? I don't really want an answer but the image of what might be needed to force compliance is not something I want to hear about or see.
Maybe you could, but you would be making a fool of yourself just for the sake of scoring some points.
Because spanking is the topic. Doh.
Spraying kids with DDT probably wouldn't hurt them at all. It's harmless to humans. And the claims that it caused eggshells of eagles and other raptors to thin and break has largely been debunked.
Sadistic.
A good parent holds a 4 year old hand so they can't run into traffic.unlike some people responding here I had kids - no, spanking is very much needed
ever smacked a little hand for reaching for something when you said no ? I guess that's physical abuse too ?
ever seen a women breast feeding get a hard bite down from a teething baby? I guess that's mental abuse the way the woman responds ?
liberals crack me up
absolutely it is
a good parent is one who protects their kids and how do you teach your 4 year old to not run out into traffic? you think a reasonable honest discussion will get you there? lol
This is exactly what it is. Time Outs and Saying No and not giving it to tantrums works perfectly fine. It can take a lot of time and even more patience, but it is effective, and kids learn really fast what the boundaries are.
