South Africa: Unity government deal reached

After ANC historically lost their majority they have been forced to seek a coalition with other parties to form the next South African government. They have now reached deals with the Democratic Alliance and the Inkatha Freedom Party (zulu nationalists). It seems Cyril Ramaphosa will be reelected as President. This means they chose to not work with Jacob Zuma's MK and Julius Malema's EFF. These two parties will now be the opposition.

Well that doesn't look good to me.

It looks like they went into government with a bunch of far-right nationalists, many of whom want to deport all foreigners (PA and IFP). That's not some kind of victory, but I guess, because they will now be more pro-western, that is seen as a victory for us here in the West as we got our way
