It’s part of a far-left online ecosystem that has proliferated in recent years, experts say. Some of the groups behind the accounts express contempt for peaceful resistance and glorify acts of violence — and even murders, like those of the UnitedHealthcare CEO and two Israeli Embassy staffers.

The leftist networks tend to be different from right-wing groups in that they are typically decentralized with no leadership structures. But they can be highly adept at using social media, and some have been working hard to amplify and celebrate the acts of violent protesters in Los Angele

Sucks. We have enough violence in the United States already. No need to push for more.

Tell that to rightwing nutjobs, like Governor DeSantis:

"If you’re driving on one of those streets and a mob comes and surrounds your vehicle and threatens you, you have a right to flee for your safety. And so if you drive off and you hit one of these people, that’s their fault for impinging on you."

If that isn't a license to kill protesters, what is?

Yeah. Destruction of property and violence are never acceptable forms of protest.

Protesters should not initiate violence, however they should be prepared to defend themselves from violent Proud Boys and Oathkeepers looking to start a fight.

Tomorrow has the potential to be a shitstorm across multiple cities. And Dear Leader is actively working for it to happen.

Yeah, I've been thinking about whether to go to one or not. On the one hand I strongly believe in the American right to peacefully protest to effect positive change. On the other hand, I suspect there are bad actors on both sides itching for things to turn physical.

The Network Contagion Research Institute and George Washington University, whom the first two "experts" are affiliated with, both have connections to the Department of Homeland Security.

Should I check the Center for Strategic and International Studies?

This smells like propaganda.

"threatens you"

Everyone has a right to defend themselves. The left arguing that people don't have a right to defend themselves against threats is not going to win anyone over.

Feels like we either need to give up a lot of our internet freedoms or deal with a crazier world. Or what do you think could be done to combat online extremism?
