A US army sergeant was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Wednesday, for fatally shooting an armed man during a Black Lives Matter protest in Texas – even after the Republican governor said he wanted to pardon the man.

Daniel Perry, 36, was convicted of murder in April for killing Garrett Foster during the downtown Austin protest in July 2020.

The conviction prompted outrage among conservatives. The Texas governor, Greg Abbott, has said he will sign a pardon once he has a recommendation from the Texas pardons and parole board, which is stacked with Abbott appointees.

The MAGA Loser expressed numerous times on social media how much he wanted to shoot BLM protesters

He ran a red light to drive into the BLM protesters.

Foster approached his vehicle and Perry shot him dead

Perry admitted during interrogation Foster did not aim his gun at him.

A lot of Texans do. There is a racial element in this. Does TX know that they lost the Civil War? I know they were late in getting the news back in 1866.
 
Abbott jumped the gun, demanding a pardon recommendation be sent to him before it was revealed this guy had some pretty vile racist content in his social media.
 
Might also help to let him know that Foster was white and an Air Force veteran.

Glad it was the guy with more than a decade in prison for mj possession who got the pardon and not the murderous asshat. Jesus.
