There is more diversity in media today than ever before. However, there is also a more isolated bubble available for those seeking safe space. I see the Right leading the way in using that feature. Is our culture becoming too homogenous from social media? There's naturally been a shift in how we communicate thru smartphones but is tech in this sense short-circuiting human evolution?
With less originality, we end up with music that all sounds the same, cars that look the same, and movies that have lost their uniqueness. We're existing in a sausage factory where people are becoming obsequious to the cookie-cutter crowd and have lost their 'je ne sais quoi.'
There was more tolerance, choices and variety in the world I grew up in. In time we'll discover that our emphasis should've been on humanity, not money.
Why some biologists and ecologists think social media is a risk to humanity
One challenge is how little we know about the dangers.www.vox.com

Try Sundance for movies. None of them are "cookie cutter."Movies have been the same for some time. Its getting so that its rare to find a movie that isn't a remake or a sequel. As for social media, I have a Facebook acct but its deactivated. I have a twitter acct that I've used once. No Instagram, no Tik-Tok......
It is bizarre to see people who likely grew up with three TV channels and one local newspaper complain about today's media being "homogenous."What time frame did you grow up in?

I agree if that’s the time frame he’s referring to. At that time our culture was totally homogenous. In fact, the whole reason guys like him seem upset is because white folks no longer have the market cornered on *everything*.
I found what's wrong. Try looking at the myriad of other media sources out there.cable channels

I haven't seen anything good, other than a few blockbusters, since 2009.
Ya, I was on social media till I realized what an unpleasant place it was. I closed all of my accts due to employers, family and friends screening your every little post, not for me.
For me, it was just that Facebook seemed so intrusive - relatives of people that I barely knew would make friend requests, and I didn't want to feel rude so I just shut it down. Its still there should I ever want it, and I get notices from Facebook almost daily, but I have no interest at this time.
Facebook was why I quit, an old coworker misread my post, then blocked me. Twitter was more like a chatroom though it still records your msgs immemorial.
Twitter's weird. As soon as I joined, years ago, I had a few 'followers' even before my one and only tweet, lol. I'm sure its some random twitter employees or something to make you feel like you're important, but it seemed kind of stalkerish to me.
I had Tori Kelly follow me for a little while. I couldn't believe it and never knew why. Once she followed me, I had all kinds of people try to talk to me and follow, mostly kooks. It reminded me of high school where I was king of the nerds, not the cool kids.
That's kind of weird! I just like my privacy too much, and I'm not all that social, so these things are not for me. And I'd rather text or email than talk.
Goo goo g'joob!I watch news documentaries from Germany and GB. I read "Black Twitter." I follow the rainbow. I am the walrus.
How do you figure? Those 3 Networks delivered more original content and variety than my 150 cable channels, IMO.
How do you figure?
So, you got nothin'. Ok.With my brain?
I'm a huge science buff. Last night I watch/listened to a symposium of the world's leading cosmologists debate inflation, the multiverse and what is really meant when the term "Big Bang" is used. Of course, I fell asleep after about half an hour.If you stay away from television you have a wide variety of different types of media
Youtube and Twitch host an untold variety of media
As a car nut, every day I can watch 3 hrs of Youtube about cars every day, all new content from channels I like. I get to see what new cars are being introduced in China, South Korea and of course the US. I love Warhammer 40K, everyday there is hours on hours of new content. Various Youtube news and commentary about news.
Social media allows for far more variety if people searches for it.
So
So, you got nothin'. Ok.
