Liars stick together, Trump and Santos, geez, what a pair

The AP reports, "Trump said Friday he had commuted the sentence of former U.S. Rep. George Santos, who is serving more than seven years in federal prison after pleading guilty to fraud and identity theft charges."

A match made in heaven!
Trump is trying to bring MTG back into the fold.

It's hard to imagine Trump pardoning a drag queen... isn't he going to just have to round him up for the camp later on? On the other hand, Santos is the only guy I can think of who actually looks better in drag, and you know how Trump likes good appearances!

Law and Order (unless it's a Trump ally). I'm sure MAGAidiots have justifications up the wazoo for their hypocrisy

Actually, when it comes to Trump, Republicans say very little of importance. If they respond, it is to change the subject.

Bad move by Trump, if you think otherwise, please explain it to us.
It's a matter of delegitimizing institutions. Trump wants to make it clear that if he says you go to jail, you go to jail. And if he didn't say you go to jail, you don't go to jail. Lawyers, courts, legislatures, and federal agents -- all irrelevant nobodies who can be fired and replaced by a rubber stamp (now with onboard AI!)

While 7 years is arguably a lot for crimes he was actually convicted of commuting the sentence to 3 months is equally excessive.

But to make matters much worse the commutation also wipes away the almost 400K in restitution to the victims he was required to pay.

It's a hilariously bad unforced error. No one was clamoring for Santos to be released, and he was disowned by many in the MAGA politicians because Santos wasn't popular among them and his criminality was pretty obvious once it was made public.

Yep. So when our MAGA posters start parroting "NER ONE IS ABURVE DER LAW!!" there is now the crown prince of being above the law, George Santos.
🤭

Marjorie Taylor Greene was fighting for his release....and it's not difficult to conclude that there's a good chance Trump threw her this bone to shut her up about the Epstein Files.
