You have to give it to the hapless Democratic Party.....they are always a day late and a dollar short.

While I'm happy that the Democratic Party appears....finally....to be willing to go all out with redistricting/gerrymandering to counter Trump and the Republican Party's fascism, it's depressing to contemplate what might have been. --

1) What if Joe Biden had put his foot up timid Merrick Garland's ass back in 2021 and forced him to investigate and prosecute Trump aggressively? Instead of waiting 2 1/2 years until August 2023 to finally bring charges against Trump? Biden and Garland, inexplicably and incompetently, allowed Trump to run out the clock. They actually gave legitimacy to Trump by failing to prosecute him much more quickly.

2) What if the Democrats had been bolder in 2021 and gotten rid of the filibuster completely? Then they could have made new states out of DC and Puerto Rico....thus increasing their number of Senate seats and House seats. That sure would have been nice for blocking the horrible new Big Ugly Bill. Not to mention blocking horrendously unqualified Trump stooges from getting confirmed....like Pete Hegseth.

3) What if the Democrats had added two more seats to the Supreme Courts? It would have been completely fair.....after all, Mitch McConnell stole 2 Supreme Court seats from the Democrats in 2016 and 2020.

There is really no excuse for Biden and the Democratic Party's craven, vacillating behavior during the past 4 years. Bold action was required to save this country from Trump and this deranged, dangerous MAGA movement and they completely failed.

It was obvious after Jan 6 what Trump is -- a deranged, fascist traitor and a domestic terrorist. The Democratic Party knew this for 4 years and did not do nearly enough to save this country from him.

I know. It’s disappointing that they are late to the party.
I’ll give it to the hapless complaining Democrats who haven’t done jack or shit since helping to divide the party at the end of Obama.

That's a whole other topic for discussion. But you can't expect poor people to take the Democratic Party seriously when they get most of their funding from billionaires and corporations.

The Democratic Party should have listened to Bernie Sanders a long time ago. If they had, Trump would be making season 25 of the Apprentice right now.

Perhaps they AGAIN underestimated him intelligence of the voters after the attempted coup and the big lie thinking he won't get the votes.

Having said that, I agree with everything you said.

I think you mean "overestimated".

Yes....it's sad that a huge number of Americans don't cherish our democracy the way that we do and/or they are simply too stupid to understand what Trump is.....even after the past 10 years.

Had the dems done all of that they would have lost the 2024 elections by an even larger margin. But that said, it is good to know that you are 100% behind Trump increasing the number of SC justices

No....because Trump would have been in ****ing jail back in 2021 or 2022. And the 5% - 10% of swing voters in this country would not have taken his candidacy seriously in 2024.

We already know that Trump being in jail would not have mattered to people like you......but you don't represent all Trump voters, fortunately.

But that said, it is good to know that you are 100% behind Trump increasing the number of SC justices
Well, your reading comprehension was never very good.

You had me at your OP. But then you lost me with this one. 🤷‍♂️

If you want the Democratic Party to become the Party of Bernie Sanders and rely solely on individual contributions they will lose every election.

Trump wasnt going to jail, but thank you for pointing out the undemocratic nature of your plans. If anyone is trying to RIP US Democracy its you

Lame
Well, your reading comprehension was never that good.
Oh so you only support democrats doing it not republicans. Gotcha. My mistake. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt that your position would be something other than hackish hypocrisy.

Not if we passed laws that limited campaign contributions.

Something else that the make-believe bold Democratic Party could have done during the past 4 years.....after getting rid of the filibuster.

He certainly was going to jail. Even you acknowledged that Trump broke the law taking those thousands of classified documents to Mar-A-Lago.

No, True.....Trump being in jail would not have mattered at all to you. You're so radicalized it would have made you even more proud to vote for him.

Oh so you only support democrats doing it not republicans. Gotcha. My mistake. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt that your position would be something other than hackish hypocrisy.
Nope. I guess you don't remember how much the despicable Mitch McConnell did for all of you ungrateful MAGAs....before you all laughably disowned him.

He certainly was going to jail. Even you acknowledged that Trump broke the law taking those thousands of classified documents to Mar-A-Lago.
No I dont think he broke any law by taking and keeping the documents. I believe he broke the law when he didnt comply with a valid subpoena to turn them over.

You calling someone else radicalized is hilarious

Either you believe the SC should be expanded or you dont. Like you, I agree it should be but I think Trump should nominate 4 to make it an even 13

Well....if a MAGA like you believes Trump broke the law, then there is a good damn bet that Trump was going to jail for that. And probably for the fake elector scheme on Jan 6, too.

You calling someone else radicalized is hilarious
You are. Trump tried to steal an election, tried to kill his own ****ing Vice President, and pardoned hundreds of Jan 6 traitors......and you still think he should be taken seriously as the leader of this country.

Your whole existence revolves around "owning the libs"...even if it makes your own life miserable. It's just pathetic.

Either you believe the SC should be expanded or you dont. Like you, I agree it should be but I think Trump should nominate 4 to make it an even 13
I only believe it should be expanded because McConnell stole 2 SCOTUS seats. That is the corrective action. What's fair is fair.

In a way, it’s good for these Republicans to do a Trump FAFO tour for another 4 years. COVID in the first term really didn’t give anyone a good look at him. But this time around, I am suspecting enough of them will eventually be hurt and sick enough of his “Golden Age” that they will turn on the GOP once and for all.

If the Dems had been more forceful, there would always have been this sense of romanticizing and idealizing “what might have been”. Let them really get it good and hard so they don’t keep getting nostalgic.

DC and Puerto Rico are not going to become states, they were not going to back in 2011 either. I suppose you missed the fact that the House and the Senate must approve a bill to make them a state. While the house under the control of the democrats have passed a bill, the bill didn't pass in the Senate, (takes 60 votes). As long as the republicans hold the Senate it's unlikely to pass. Even if the democrats get a majority in the Senate they have to come up with 60 votes and have a President to sign it. If the democrats get rid of the filibuster it's a clear power play that will eventually bite them in the ass.
I think you mean "overestimated".

Yes....it's sad that a huge number of Americans don't cherish our democracy the way that we do and/or they are simply too stupid to understand what Trump is.....even after the past 10 years.
LOL!! I'll tell you what he is, the elected President of the United States. Yeah, you cherish the democracy so much you want to change it.

Except he didnt try to steal an election of kill his VP. Thats just you lying.
Your whole existence revolves around "owning the libs"...even if it makes your own life miserable. It's just pathetic.
My life is far from miserable and owning the libs is not really much of a challenge
I only believe it should be expanded because McConnell stole 2 SCOTUS seats. That is the corrective action. What's fair is fair.
Nah. Since you libs will expand the court the first chance you get, Trump should do it first.

In a way, it’s good for these Republicans to do a Trump FAFO tour for another 4 years. COVID in the first term really didn’t give anyone a good look at him. So that is the only potential positive outcome of this 4 year Trump nightmare.

Too bad millions of poor people are going to die overseas with the shutdown of USAID....just so that the imbecile MAGA rubes can finally learn the hard way about Trump.

He wasnt going to jail for either
It was worth a shot....especially since even a MAGA like you acknowledges his guilt.

Except he didnt try to steal an election of kill his VP. Thats just you lying.
Merrick Garland, Jack Smith, and a whole bunch of highly competent DOJ prosecutors disagree vehemently with you. But cling for dear life to your MAGA religious beliefs.

My life is far from miserable and owning the libs is not really much of a challenge
Meh....trying to defend Trump is making you miserable. You acknowledge that Trump broke the law, but you're mad at a meanie liberal like myself for reminding you that he broke the law....and how you voted for him anyway.

Nah. Since you libs will expand the court the first chance you get, Trump should do it first.
You're whining about Democratic "cheating" when Republicans cheated first. Funny. Pathetic.

You struggle with reading comprehension, too. I said the Democrats should have gotten rid of the filibuster so that they could have granted statehood to DC and Puerto Rico.

Trump has taught the Democratic Party one thing -- anything is possible, if you are ruthless enough. Unfortunately, Trump is far more ruthless at dismantling democracy than the Democratic Party is at saving democracy.

LOL!! I'll tell you what he is, the elected President of the United States. Yeah, you cherish the democracy so much you want to change it.
Trump is destroying it....that's a lot ****ing worse than the Democrats trying to protect it.

I disagree on your stolen or the use of the word stolen when it comes to the SCOTUS. In 2016 the republicans had a 54-46 advantage. If McConnell had allowed a vote on Garland, the GOP had more than enough votes to reject Garland’s confirmation. I don’t have the faintest idea why McConnell didn’t let Garland have a floor vote. That was stupid in my opinion. Although it may have been payback to 2007 when Schumer declared the democrats wouldn’t take up a Bush nominee for the SCOTUS in his last year if a vacancy occurred. Very partisan Politicians have long memories.

In 2020 Biden didn’t nominate anyone, he wasn’t even president then. Trump was. Biden didn’t take office until 20 Jan 2021. Bottom line, no SCOTUS nomination was stolen in 2020. As for why Biden didn’t have Garland indict Trump 2 ½ years early, I don’t know, but he should have.

Doing away with the filibuster? Haven’t the democrats learned anything by Ex-Democratic Majority Leader Senator Harry Reid first use and precedence setting use of the nuclear option. How’d that work out? Doing away with the filibuster would probably have the same outcome. That would simply mean any party of the president who also has control of the house and senate could repeal any law they have a mind to. Any and all laws passed by the previous administration along with going back decades to repeal any law they don’t like. How about the civil rights law? All that would take is a simple majority in both chambers. Passing laws would be like the executive order, any future president could repeal all the laws he doesn’t like and pass laws he does only to be repealed by a future president.

2 more seats on the SCOTUS. Okay, the democrats add two, then when the republicans come back in power, they’ll add 2 more or 4 more and then the democrats come back in power, they add more, the the republicans turn to add more and so one. That’s stupid which reminds me of Ex-Democratic Majority Leader Senator Harry Reid first use and precedence setting use of the nuclear option.

Statehood for D.C. and Puerto Rico, No thank you. The D.C. problem could be solved by giving it back to Maryland. The southern portion of D.C. was given back to Virginia in 1846. We have precedence for return land set aside to the capital back to the original state it was taken from.

The problem with the democrats is they only think short term, not long term. They only have knee jerk reactions when deep thought ought to be done.

This is dangerous, but it has to be done.

The redistricting isn’t just Trump's pet project, it's a nation wide party effort. They're afraid the actual economic left gaining power in the Democratic party, ending the GOP donors dream of libertarian feudalism.

Beto O'Rourke is right, there are no refs in the game now. Welcome to the bloodless civil war.
