So we took it down to the lottery office, filled out the forms and didn't hear from them again for like ever.
Today, wifey get's the big call.
"Ma'am this is a stolen ticket and I'm calling to advise you that you are under official investigation."
****.
I called, talked to them, was able to ID the store, and she said they'd go from there. I'll take a lie detector, stand in front of a Jury and state confidently, I didn't steal ****. I bought it with all due process of belief it was a legit ticket duly paid for.
FFS.
Lottery lady told me lots of these turn out to be errors in stock and scanning by the store.
At first it sounded like a scam but upon hearing the full story, I wonder what really went on. Was the store selling all fake lottery tickets? Did the lottery just mess up? How common are the stock errors?? So many questions.
It makes me happy I don't play the lottery.

Did you manually ascertain your numbers were indeed winners?
Well that sucks. I bet that was a roller coaster of emotions.
Odd.That's why we took it in, it claimed winner but we couldn't find the win, using the app or in store scanners.

Is there anything in America that actually works without some degree of controversy?
I don't get this. Someone had to have reported that number as stolen. If they are dealing with 1980's technology or later they know exactly where it was bought...and they would have known it was stolen/invalid before running the draw,
Otherwise, someone has reported the ticket stolen AFTER the draw.
You know, just thinking about it, if its a large sum, maybe get a lawyer.
This stinks beyond a normal everyday transplanted digit
Odd.

Renae, I declare...you have more drama in your life than anyone I know...SMH...I know it's not really funny...but well, it is...
I hope they get it straightened out soon...before you're completely stressed out...
I would like to see the IRS audit every state lotto, would be interesting to see.* Just say no to the lotto, the Government already has enough of your $.*
I once made a sign of the above sentence and placed it at one of the busiest intersections in town, it stayed there an entire week!
If you scan a ticket it will say things, one of them is "WINNER: SEE LOTTERY" Which generally implies a large prize.
I am relaxed at the moment because I did not do anything wrong. If this goes to stupid land and cops show up at my door, it will quit being funny.
I buy little 5 dollar tickets, if they win 20 I trade up and if that hits anything I keep it. Won 50 off a 30 ticket I bought after winning 40 on a 5. So 45 dollar profit.
I hear ya...plus it has to be a little disappointing...
I never play anymore (might of spent 20 in my life) but when I see a ticket laying around, I check it. Found quite a few that way. Last year I was picking trash on a lot so I could mow it, I picked up a 2 dollar scratcher, it was a 100$ winner.
