I often think "Why bother?" with posts beyond a certain level of 'specialness,' such as the one you've responded to. But I suppose a part (albeit a very small part) of the reason that almost-explicit racism and Trumpism have become so prevalent is because implicit and casual racism were 'tolerated' perhaps more than they should have been over prior decades. They're worth responding to, at least sometimes, just to remind everyone what is and isn't acceptable in a rational society.

Yea, nothing shows support for the armed forces like ducking the draft, and disparaging war heroes because they got caught when shot down over enemy territory. Or calling those who served and died suckers and losers; and skipping out on honoring graves at Normandy because you didn't want to get your comb over wet in the rain. Lots of support for the armed services there!

And then of course, there is the elephant in the room: using an invite to our most hallowed national cemetery to create a photo op/campaign video. And doing so despite specific and repeated instructions from those whose job it is to protect/preserve Arlington, not to do so.
