SNL Oval Office cold open

Yeah, that was way overdone, but Mike Meyers as Elmo is interesting. Hadn't seen him in years.

They started the open with this sarcastic script flashed over the White House...

Yesterday
President Trump hosted
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy
at the White House
and it went really really well.
Everyone who watched
felt at ease and thought,
"The world is now a safer place."

I thought that Trump, Vance, Zelensky and Rubio all were good in their roles. I didn't really "get" Elon Musk. But perhaps I haven't watched him enough to get it.

Elon was played by Mike Myers who didn't get the accent right.

He sounded more Austrian than South African.

Yeah, the accent kept coming in and out and the overall body language etc. just seemed off. Again, I may not have paid that much attention to the real Musk to "get" it.

As for the rest of the show, I actually watched the whole thing yesterday. I don't generally, but I have to admit the 50th anniversary has caught my attention because...well, I'm old enough to kind of remember the beginnings.

There were some really hits and misses for this weekend's shows. Personally, I thought there were too many low hanging sexual references. That's not clever, just blue. I always enjoy Weekend Update with Colin and Michael. Shane Gillis bombed terribly in his monologue, but a few of his sketches were funny.

That cracks me up and they have so much material to work with these days.

I muted Gillis during the monologue but you're right he did a better job later in the show.

If you didn't listen to him, how do you know he did better later?

Yeah. I read that. Just can’t figure out how to compare if you didn’t hear it.

I see what you mean. I started off listening to the monologue and muted it part way through.

Ahh. I watched the whole thing. Mostly to see if he could pull up. He couldn’t. Crash and burn. Actually felt bad for him.
