Smallest 3 US states?

This should be an easy question for you guys.
Simply, what are the 3 smallest states?

My gues is Rhode Island (I have zero idea how big this is but it's an island so I assume it can't be huge)

Washington state is huge. Washington D.C. is tiny but not a state. Rhode Island is the smallest state, but it's not an Island.
 
Rhode Island, Delaware, Connecticut
 
Smallest per square miles?
1 - Rhode Island
2 - Delaware
3 - Connecticut

Smallest per population?
1 - Vermont
2 - Alaska
3 - North Dakota
 
Iowa, Ohio and Utah.

DELAWARE! Poor little Delaware—the Rodney Dangerfield of states—DON’T GET NO RESPECT!
And it’s really a beautiful little state.

I have no idea why they named it Rhode ISLAND but while it is not landlocked, (it has shores) it's definitely attached on three sides by the mainland.

Smallest, Rhode Island
Second smallest, Connecticut
Third smallest New Hampshire.

The full name of the state was, until recently, “Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.” The portion of the state on the mainland is the Providence Plantations, and the island commonly known as Aquidneck Island (where I was born) is still officially Rhode Island.

So the name comes from the the island part.
