WTO is a system that worked for everyone except the good'ol USA. Of course they want to keep the system going. Free trade never was free trade. Other countries cashed in on the mighty America consumer and his/her propensity to use debt to fund their lifestyles. We have a trillion dollar trade deficit and 12 trillion dollars of consumer debt to show for it. Clearly it's not sustainable. What needs to happen is America needs to once again become a exporter nation, we need to rebuild middle class manufacturing jobs, instead of sending dollars overseas other countries should be buying our products in return for us buying theirs. It's going to be a uphill battle to get there but you got to start somewhere. This is the first step.

And who the **** do you think is going to buy American products produced with the cost of American wages? I'm not gonna pay $50 more for a toaster made by some fat **** in Kentucky.

There's no possibility whatsoever of a single universal global currency and a Global Central Bank for everyone. And certainly not overnight in a crisis.

There's no possibility whatsoever of another national currency succeeding the USD as the prevalent and dominant forex and trade currency, much less suddenly overnight in the global tariff crisis.

The Brics, the Global South, Russia, China and India especially are not going to accept the Euro as either a dominant forex reserve currency or as a dominant currency of trade. Indeed, the dayze of the Europeans as masters of the universe are long since gone.

A new global currency of either or another kind would require a global consensus and a thoroughly thought through plan of implementation done in highly controlled phases. Holders of US debt both foreign and domestic would need time and a program to wean off the USD lest the value of their holdings collapse totally and suddenly. Ten cents on the dollar in any other currency is DOA.

No one should be surprised btw that Trump's Tariffs are defying the laws of gravity. While the USD should be strengthening because of the US imposed tariffs, the dollar is in fact weakening due to the global tariffs chaos. This is in fact what Trump has always wanted because a weakened dollar improves the US current account deficit/imbalance. So while the USD is not taking its expected hit due to the tariffs, other national currencies are taking gas. It only gets worse for 'em if they try to collapse the USD because that would mean the global economy just falls apart. It's not overly dramatic to expect war and wars to grab natural resources.

And with the dollar weakening Trump doesn't have to bomb Jerome Powell out of the Fed Building which is the big marble fortress just around the corner from the WH south lawn. TreasSec Bessen can be found in the WH doghouse btw given he predicted the dollar would strengthen which would ease inflation which now is going to go hog wild. Indeed, the only thing worse than a Washington expert is a MAGA from anywhere.

When in the 1960s Lee Kwan Yew and his people got kicked out of Malaysia to the sleepy jungle island called Singapore Taiwan swooped in to the rescue. That was when Taiwan was called the Portuguese explorers name of Formosa, meaning flower.

The Taiwan Chinese set up the Chinese in Singapore, got 'em on their feet with public infrastructure, a government and an economy. The Masterful Lee Kwan Yew took it from there and Singapore was off and running. One of the late Lee's favorite anecdotes about the Singapore Chinese is that he had to teach 'em you don't just stop and piss against a building because you have to piss. And to stop spitting their spicy food aftertaste.

The Taiwan connection to the United States connected the USA and Singapore and Singapore has not looked back since. The British colony of Hong Kong Chinese with the USA and UK made Singapore a place where global investors got both the red carpet and the Rule of British law to include British English as the people's second language and common tongue used daily. The Chinese native tongue in HKG and Singapore is Cantonese.

Singapore and Taiwan remain bonded profoundly and as brothers, to the point that most of the Singapore Air Force to include its F-35s are stationed on Taiwan where, as Singapore and Taiwan maintain, they have the open space for training that they don't have over the postage stamp airspace of the Singapore City-State. America was best when it's union membership was highest. Years ago but still in my lifetime, anything an American could want or need was Made in America. Top quality stuff, too- Made in Japan was a euphemism for cheap junk. What happened was southern states passed anti-union 'right to work' laws to attract industry with cheap labour and that move south was just the first stop on the road to Mexican maquiladora zones and then Sri Lankan child-labour sweat-shops.
