Yes. Bostock v Clayton County established that LGBT people are protected under the Civil Rights Act, on the basis of sex discrimination. That is to say, if you wouldn't fire a woman for wearing a dress and saying she's a woman, then you can't fire a man for doing the same.

IMO this is both the correct decision and the correct rationale.

Honestly I think most people here are misunderstanding the question. Transgender people were revered as gods and prophets across the world, known for their wisdom and accolades. The question isn't should you hire a trans person if they're qualified. It's how should a person respectfully grovel to a trans person for the job.

If I didn't know better I'd think you were a right-wing Poe.

It's okay you may kiss my hand when I take over your job. If you're lucky I may even let you wash my programmer socks.

Define qualified. If a pre-op male-to-female trans applies for a job as dressing room attendant at the YWCA, should he be hired? I'm a no on that one.

Btw, I'm invoking the 2013 DSM differentiation between sex and gender when I use pronouns. I have chosen to use sex rather than gender in most cases - like in my hypothetical above.

Allowed by whom? In America, Americans don't need to ask any central authority for permission to work to begin with, so your question makes no sense. They are allowed to work by default. Employment authorization is a thing that typically affects foreign visitors.

Really don't know because I can't imagine the requirements for every job. One thing I'm sure of if it requires transgenders using the same rest rooms and dressing facilities as their biological counterparts, NO!. My guess is most jobs would not make much difference, but then again you need to examine each job on it's own requirements and how this would effect teamwork and cohesion on the job.

I do have a feeling that once we get the true motive (if we ever get one) from this murderer, there will be a big push from Trump and his deplorables to want to ban/restricts certain rights of the trans community. You can see it already with trump banning trans in the military and wanting to ban trans from having guns.
