I think he was implying that a woman stupid enough to drink water until she dies over a nintendo wii does is not fit to add to the gene pool. I am inclined to agree with him.
I think that's a little harsh. I'd be very curious to have a look at the waiver she signed and see exactly what it said about the danger of what they were doing. I know many radio "waivers" are just about use of your personality, picture, comments ect. I'm betting the waiver wasn't very good as the show is cancelled and all involved were fired.
That aside, I cannot believe that this woman didn't have some clue that she was approaching a dangerous situation. I mean, come on, she had to get sick or an overly full feeling...something her body did to tell her "Wait!!! I don't need anymore water!!!"
Isn't it time we said enough is enough of this stupid garbage that poses as entertainment, especially when the producers of this garbage are willing to put people's lives at risk "OH we had a realease".

Yeah I agree somewhat though she was told that her body would make her throw up before she got to a dangerous level. That was false information but it does sound good you know. I can see how someone might think since they haven't thrown up yet they can push themselves a bit further. It sounds like something that makes sense! However a dr. would never have said that. She trusted them and that was stupid. She was given false information during the contest! And they should be held accountable.
................................................
People who agree to be contestants on radio shows don't expect that the radio show is going to ask them to do something that will kill them if done well.
If this was an accident "related" to the game but not something that a reasonable person might expect to happen that would be a straight up accident.
In this case however she was asked to do something that any dr. would tell her not to do!
Callers called in with warnings.
The show show should have known better.
The DJ's were joking about the danger for heavens sake.
And the woman probably thought the whole time she was fine because they wouldn't have that type of contest if it was really dangerous. Just like the loons eating the crazy **** on fear factor sign releases but don't expect that the show is going to feed them something that is actually unsafe.
They eat gross stuff but the stuff is completely checked out. The show doesn't just get the waiver signed and then feed them whatever the hell they feel like cause they signed a waiver. The bugs and creepy arse food is all checked and monitored for saftey. This show was irresponsible.
If this show had people come in and drink themselves to death with alcohol it wouldn't matter that the contestant had signed a waiver. They would still be held responsible for the contest. And I feel they should be for this as well.
As a business you do not ask people to do something without first making sure that what you're asking is safe.
The fact that they talked about the possibility of death with laughter, ignored callers, and then the woman died is just sick.
Personally I don't think they should go to jail or be charged but I think the station should be sued big time!
When you have several people calling in and emphasizing the danger and they shrug it off with jokes, there's a problem. Total blatant disreguard for the participants comes to mind. Whether the contestants heard these exchanges, I don't know.
The amount she drank was phenomenal-224oz in 3 hours! And she was given this water, not voluntarily and timely drinking it. Contestants were given 8oz bottles every 2 minutes at first, then every 10 minutes.
The headache she was experiencing was saturation of her brain, causing it to swell.
The average human consumes about 91 oz of fluids a day, including what's in food.
I generally am of the opinion that anyone who participates in these ridiculous games aren't playing with a full deck, but I also hold the originators and producers responsible as well. They are in positions of authority, making these contests-it behooves them to know exactly what the hell they're doing and the dangers involved, no matter how remote.
This reminds of the club fire a few years back, where the owners were sentenced for the deaths of 100 people. I don't think they were 100% liable, but they allowed that pyro show to proceed and should have been aware of the construction of their own club.
How? Why?
Every radio station has a lawyer. The lawyer's job is to make sure that everything they are doing is "legit" and can be done while keeping them out of trouble. Any contest where contestants are going to be coming on to the station's property to participate in a physical activity should have been run by the lawyer, who if he is worth his salt, should have turned around and checked with a dr. to make sure the contest was fine. So either the station lawyer ****ed up or the d.j.'s didn't feel the need to run a physical contest by the lawyer in which case they're morons.
