Should Pete Rose or Shoeless Joe Jackson be elected to the Hall of Fame?

Should the player be inducted into the Hall?

Baseball has just taken Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson off the ‘banned’ list.

They both previously had a lifetime ban for gambling on baseball- Jackson for allegedly participating in throwing the 1919 World Series, and Rose for betting on baseball, including on his own team during his career.

Both clearly were outstanding players in their times.

Should either of them be elected to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown?

What do you call someone that sucks one dick?

Neither.

Not only did Rose gamble on baseball, he refused to admit it when given an opportunity to come clean. **** him.

As for Joe Jackson, I'll let the history books tell his story.

Bobby Knight physically assaulted one of his players, yet he is in his sport's hall of fame. Tris Speaker was implicated in game fixing. Orlando Cepeda spent time in prison in the 70s on drug charges BEFORE he was elected in the hall of fame. Gaylord Perry admitted to cheating and he is in the hall of fame. What makes them different from Rose and Jackson?

For one thing to lump Shoeless Joe Jackson in with Pete Rose is not a good idea. Pete Rose is an obvious all time great of baseball, whereas Jackson had a few great years before being banned. The other thing is that Rose was not found to have thrown a game , while Jackson admitted to having participated in throwing a game.

Joe Jackson. Besides betting on baseball, rose is a pedo.

He shouldn't be there. He's a horrible man and a severely overrated coach.

No thoughts on the rest of who I mentioned who are in the baseball hall of fame? People who have criminal records and one who admitted to cheating to win baseball games as an active player?

I think Pete Rose should be let in the Hall of Fame because he never bet on the opposing teams or fixed matches; he only bet on himself. Joe Jackson, on the other hand, helped rig the World Series. That's a far more egregious offense than anything Rose did. With that being said, you could make a case for letting Joe Jackson in the Hall of Fame if you put an asterisk on the 1919 World Series, assuming he didn't throw other games.

Bob Knight was not only a great coach, he was also a great mentor. He graduated 99 percent of his players, never cheated in a time when cheating was rampant, won 3 national championships, and made the final four 5 times. To call him overrated is the biggest bunch of bullshit I have ever heard, and before you say, "But he assaulted his player and had a bad temper," he touched one of his players on the shoulder for a couple of seconds; calling that assault is making a mountain out of a molehill. As for his anger, cussing at a kid for disrespecting him while mean is completely understandable. If he were a rapper, nobody would bat an eye, but because he's a basketball coach, people act like he was the devil.

Jackson threw a game for money. Rose bet on his team to win. Besides look at the history of some of the folks in the HOF and tell me they were "good" people. They are there because they were great players.

I agree. Both were clearly hall of fame players.

They deserve to be there.

Jackson had great numbers in that very World Series.

I am glad that Pete Rose died before this development. He died in disgrace and banned. Too late for him to personally benefit and bask in any glory. Yes, he will likely get in the Hall of Fame, but too late for him to know.

😄

Wow, that's harsh. Forgiveness ring any bells?

Bobby Knight CHOKED Neil Reed! In any other situation he would have been arrested and charged with assault!

Both should be in the HOF.
Their on-field accomplishments speak for themselves.

I'll have to remember that when I walk into the Draft Kings sportsbook that is literally attached to Wrigley Field.

Forbidden by players. Not fans.

“Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”

Joe Jackson and Pete Rose stand out as two of the best MLB players to ever play in MLB.
