Again, it's called being professional. Something Obama has not learned to be. What's next, answering a reporter's "incredibly urgent question" of "what sitcom do you like watching Mr. President?". Gimme a break.
The Mickey Mouse reporting and the unprofessionalism of the president is astounding. For the most part, I hated almost every decision Bush made, but he was far more professional than Obama is.
I am thinking we have enough problems facing this country so should the President butt in?
The simple fact of the matter is that Obama goes deliberately out of his way to "butt into" these kinds of issues every chance he gets. No other president has done so.
He did so with the Trayvon Martin case, he did so with college basketball, and he's doing so now with these stupid comments on the Redskins. It's nothing less than blatant attention whoring.
The Obama Administration is notorious for strictly controlling the media's access to the president. It would be incredibly naïve to think that he did not take the interview in the first place without at least some idea of what questions might come up.
The entire story basically stinks to high heaven of being an artificially manufactured puff piece; nothing more, and nothing less.
It is a distraction, basically meant to draw attention away from his failings as a president.
Yeah, God forbid the President has sports teams and TV shows he likes to watch and someone wants his opinion.
Is that supposed to be a joke? Bush "more professional than Obama"??!!??
Wow you provided TWO videos (one being a gaffe), good for you
So you think it's right and proper for the president to be appearing on late night comedy shows?
He was asked the question. Should he not have answered? Either way someone would have something to say about it.
So you think that is more important then handling the economy, unemployment, foreign policy, etc?

Since when has the government done any of those things?
always......
I've said it once and I'll say it again: Who. The. Hell. Cares. ?
I don't think answering a question necessarily makes that question more important than anything else. It's certainly possible for Obama to voice his opinion on this, and still have the economy, unemployment, and foreign policy being far more important things in his mind.
This, precisely.
The people who seem to be getting upset at Obama over this seem to be the people who get upset at Obama over everything.
Ok I could maybe make a slide for the question, so do you think going on late night talk shows is "presidential"?
I don't think going on late night talk shows is necessarily unpresidential. It depends on what they do. For example if Obama just goes on Colbert as a guest to get interviewed remaining mostly serious while Colbert throws in a few jokes I have no problem with that at all.
I guess that is where you and I differ. I think the office of the presidency is supposed to be professional. I don't see that with Obama.
I don't think its necessarily unprofessional to be going on talk shows. It certainly can be, but the way many of the Senators and Representatives and even Presidents that I've seen do at least the Daily Show and Colbert Report, which are the only ones I watch, usually strike a pretty professional tone. Perhaps they're involved in a joke or two, but generally they just seem to be trying to get the message out to the types of people who watch these shows, and I don't think that's a bad thing.
Like I said, we differ. I think elective officials should avoid going on those shows altogether. There is a professionalism that just isn't there when it happens.

I understand we differ, I'm just trying to understand what you see is unprofessional about appearing on these shows. From what I've seen, most of the time when appearing these officials act what I'd consider professionally.
Professionalism is a standard of behavior, not a venue
Yeah, right. So you're saying if the president (Dem or Republican) personally attended to the Adult Video Awards, it wouldn't reflect on the president at all? Wow, you are living in a dream world.
If a president went there in order to persuade the industry to engage in more responsible behavior (say like requiring the use of condoms) then I think it would reflect well on that president.
