Should illegals be able to obtain legal status by joining the military or going to college for two years?

No
Not only a "no" but a hell no.
yes but only for enlisting in the military.

yes for either enlisting in the military or going to college.

Personally I say not only a no but a hell no.No illegal alien should ever get legal status, they fu<ked that chance up by coming here illegally or deliberately overstaying a visa.

Some of you probably wonder what I mean by the "certain terms have to be met".That can mean anything from have to have proficiency in english, paying for college themselves,no joke courses such as underwater basket weaving, art, philosophy or something else just as useless or MOS restrictions.
Some of you may not have a problem with an illegal getting legal status by joining the military or going to college for a few years as long as they are not trying to take the easy route, some of you probably do not give a **** how they take that route.

If you are only here to play the race/anti-immigrant/anti-Hispanic/xenophobe card please go fu<k yourself instead of wasting our time with bull sh!t allegations of racism that only a retard would believe. We know you do no believe the false accusations of racism,anti-immigrant,xenophobia and anti-hispanic.The only reason you spew such lies is because pro-illegals scum and illegals do not have a leg to stand on in the illegal immigration debate. Pro-illegal scum are the equivalent of the other scum who try to argue in favor of armed robbery, shoplifting, rape and other crimes.

Absolutely. Our military could greatly expand its size - for little additional cost - if we allowed non-US citizens to join with the promise of a path to citizenship. We probably wouldn't even have to pay them for their service at all, aside from basic room/board costs.

As far as going to college, absolutely. Aren't skilled workers exactly the kind of people who the anti-illegal crowd CLAIM to want to immigrate to this country? Having more intelligent, productive people in this country would be a HUGE asset.

I voted for the last option. Certain terms should still have to be met, even if they complete college/military. They should still have to pass all the same citizenship tests, they should still have to learn English, they should still have to have a clean criminal record, etc.

What if they had a wife and kids?I am sure that housing, food, clothing, schooling and medical care would add up

Skilled workers coming from another country is different than some illegal who sneaked over here and mooched of tax payers to get those skills.

Nothing else,so it would be okay if the illegals enlisted as cooks, clerks or some other non-combat job in the military or went to college for underwater basket weaving, art, philosophy or some other bull **** course and went to college off tax payer money? Why not make the illegals have to enlist in combat MOSs and take serious college courses that they pay for themselves?

Umm then they wouldn't enlist for the free service.

A) You have to prove citizenship (or maybe permanent residency) to get any federal financial aid, so they aren't "mooching off taxpayers to get those skills."

B) Even if they were, it wouldn't change the fact that they then had the skills. And therefore they would be a huge asset to our economy.

Sure, why not? It would cut down on the military's costs.

It's not so much the nature of their degree that's important, it's the fact that they went to college. That means it's very likely that they're a talented individual, even if they had a major that wasn't very practical.

See above.
