Electronics - including cell phones - have their time and place.Schools have a duty of care for minors in the care
That happens. Schools can also just ban certain things. Skateboards in class, weapons, drugs, porno, distracting, radios, movies, etc.
Not every parent is the superstar that you are... meaning, the issue is bigger than you.
.
Yep.I bet you have limits as well as parental control over the phone though.
I am free to do whatever I want within the rules.I am not saying it is a problem or not at any one school. I asked a question in the OP. You are free to answer if you like.,
You are "not saying it is a problem" but then you assert "It is obviously a massive problem"? Just not a massive problem at schools with phone bans. 75% of schools already ban phones in the classroom. So you want the other 25% to ban them?It is obviously a massive problem and no one parent has the right to say their kid can have and use a phone at school if it causes distractions.
That is what I think. What is it that you think?

Oh, that's right, you just asked a question. We are conversing because I told you my opinion. But you rejected it. You did not argue against it, you first implied I have not seen what the entire world has seen. And rejected my position that children are their parents' responsibility because not all parents are as good me.
Meanwhile, banning phones in schools has been trending and gaining strength. I agree that schools can and should ban phones if necessary. I disagree there should be any law forcing the ban legally. States should advise that banning phones during class is a possible solution to student phone issues.
Are you scrolling while typing? You seem distracted.
Why not.Under 18.
Should they?
In my province high school scores are rising and graduation rates are up.From an educational standpoint grades are dropping
There have always been influencers that young people follow., attention spans are faltering, kids are obsessed with tic tok, instagram and following Influencers.
They can't do that in class.Kids are more detached than ever, obsessed with games so much that some schools offer EA Sports as a class, and it is not about programming or something... it is about playing video games while at school.
I love that older people who spend 3 hours a day in front of the TV and hours on their own phone are lecturing kids on what's best.Thoughts

Is it adversely affecting these adults jobs?
I already answered that.
It used to be that kids had to wait to hear from them... after school or on the weekends.
That is what many of them do in class.
Your whole OP has a "cantankerous old coot" vibe.
50 years ago you'd have been muttering about kids watching too much TV or yapping with their friends on the phone for hours.
What I brought up is an actual issue going on.
What you brought up is a non problem. To support it you listed some sketchy, unsupported claims like declining grades.

Cantankerous old coots.A non-problem that a government decided was a problem based off of evidence and made a law making it illegal for students to have cell phones at school?
And some places like my province they're going up. And kids here have phones. There is declining grades
Bullying goes back long before crank phones.bullying
Ditto cheating.cheating
As old as time., distractions,
Yeah this never happened before in history.defiance,
OMG dancing! Do the Methodists know?tic toc dance videos,

You've not made the casual connection between phones and grades. Why are you not concerned about the children being adversely affected and learning less?
You've not made the casual connection between phones and grades.
You've made zero casual connection.I have made more of a connection
Lots of them... secondary and colleges...
I understand your claim.
I’m asking you to support it.
Not Esports teams, which are not credit bearing classes. Those are and street school club or intramural team. I’m taking about your claim where they take a class for credit and sit around and play video games.
